"Is Anthony Hamilton one of the Best Soul Singers of Our Generation?"

I think him, D, Saadiq & Sleepy are the first 4 that come to mind for me when I think of Soul. But do cats think A. Hamilton deserves the top spot? Also check out a rare acoustic EP of some of A. Hamilton's songs off "Coming Where I'm From" and a concert of him in London during the "Ain't Nobody Worrying Tour."

But Saadiq and D' have better catalogs. Sleepy though, I wouldn't put him up there for singing. Unless you aren't talking about Brown.

That said I think Anthony has the best three song run out of all of them on Ain't Nobody Worrying.

Also Maxwell is in there and gets most consistent solo artist. Saadiq has the best catalog with the Tony material.

R. Kelly is one shit unnatural forced sounding singer. But keep on sucking his dick.

Now Joe is really good.

Anthony is too, but he really fucked up Lewis Taylor's "Betterlove".

sing Anthony Hamilton songs are scratching tickets outside of a 7/11. nobody knows that turkey and vocally he sings like he is punched drunk.

he sounds like somebody took Don Kings haridryer and blew it up his lungs.

he sounds all constipated like ExLax got him jammed up.

R.Kelly did Anthony Hamilton's whole career with "TP2.com" "One Me" is the best Anthony Hamilton song that he ain't never did.

Kellz will run Anthony Hamilton back to the front counter of wallgreens working.

they all sound the same. i heard that turkey doing that busted stepping song with Jill Scott and I laughed so hard because Anthony Hamilton sounds like a Old Man that was a Background singer talking about let me show you how its done and he is so boring and puts me to sleep.

he is one of the faces of Sleeping time Music.

"one of the best" -- without question
the best, #1 -- now we have a debate

My top 5, at this moment
1. Jill Scott
2. Maxwell
3. Anthony Hamilton
4. MJB - limited range but great power and emotion
5. Alicia Keys -- poppy soul

D'Angelo will probably break in there if he ever releases another album.

Anthony can sing, however he is a one note johnny and madd boring.

Anthony can sang. He mixes church, blues and soul into his music and it ends up sounding a touch retro but still new and fresh. His vocals are reminiscent of Bill Withers mixed with Al Green's grittiness. He is carrying on his shoulders the tradition of soul music. Gerald Levert (RIP)was on the same tip as well. Because of this, he will not be a mega star but he will not want for money either. These are my favorite tracks by him:

Pass Me Over a beautiful hymn and church is in session
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-I4U_ARfLs

Her Heart a gentle ballad that could move you to tears with its grace and majesty
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMMp18QiMIs

Prayin'/For You Superman more down home music and he cuts it loose on the first part
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_Uac79Re2A

Pray For Me a nice Babyface track
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Bl04xgxuv8

Change Your World this pays tribute to Thom Bell complete with the electric sitar and in 6/8 time James Poyser, Questlove and Hamilton co-wrote this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpOc70xvK54

Fair In Love great song with a bluesy feel Unfortunately this is only available on the the deluxe version of his latest cd So many haven't heard this

got him, d, bilal, and maxwell at the top of my list
for best male vocals of this generation. he will take
your ass to church and back. saw him at the warner
theatre in d.c. a few years ago, and he tore the house
down ~ completely.

honorable mention goes to van hunt.
