"why does Sexual/Freaky humor in R&B bring a class issue?"

obviously huge R.kelly and Brian Mcknight fan also El Debarge and R&B is my Forte period. and I wonder when a R&B cat says certain words that it brings the Aunt Esther Evil Eye out of turkeys?

I mean rappers say this or Rock singers say this or even Country Artists, but R&B acts gotta get the Prim and Proper treatment even still?

Brian Mcknight got folks bugged out and I'm like whats the big deal? but again there is a Class issue when a R&B act says certain words. never mind the 999 metaphors already used to saying it, to be blunt and say it as a R&B singer still gives alot of folks the Evil eye and I wonder why that is still the case?

I love the Humor in R&B and you know me, if you ain't funny then chances are I ain't listening to you.

you can have them tired turkeys like John Legend, seal and Alicia Keys and Kem. I want to laugh and feel the songs and music, not be put to sleep.

i don't want no Constipated singing.

Called "Glad You Came Out Tonite." I mean WEAK. Weak game, weak sauce. He's at a club spitting weak, timid game to a lady. I was insulted and appalled by the song. It was the milquetoast version of Teddy Pendergrass's "Come on over to my place."

I mean, is that what folks want from R&B? Milquetoast bullshit? Brian McKnight has put out a lot of bullshit over the years, and often I cringe at his stuff. This song was funny, and the most interesting thing he's made since "Find Myself in You" (one of the best double entendres in years in contemporary R&B).

I dig it. He's a good singer, and if Marvin could ask for "Sexual Healing" and the Isleys could get "In Between the Sheets"...shoot, half of Prince & R. Kelly's stellar catalogs...I'm real fine with some actually well-sung, creative stuff for once.

Explain how "Lemme show you how yo pussy work bet u didn't know it could
squirt" is creative. Explain NIGGA! That bullshit ain't creative ONE
iota and you know it. You want some vulgarity? Ok. You want somebody
to say "pussy" in they music? Fine but don't call that shit creative.

The more educated and refined you get, the more you prefer art (of all kinds) to be subtle and clever, not blatant and obvious.

That's why we have things called "guilty pleasures". Cause our class system says that if you have some money, some sense, some education, some home training, talking about making the pussy fart is unbecoming.

this ain't rocket scientist.

Like with the Brian McKnight thing. All I heard was.."What the hell are you doing singing a song like that?..your BRAIN McKNIGHT!..One last Cry, Back at One, Let it Snow..wedding song anthem dude"...

If Kellz would have did it, no one would have blinked an eye..but people felt like it was out of character for HIM..

Whats crazy is for all we know McKnight might really be the type of nigga who talks like that on his own time..but because of his past catalog people don't perceive or WANT to believe he is capable of doing a song like that.

And with R&B it's always been that fine line between crude/blunt/crass and tastefully sexy. And either the artist is put on one side or the other. I can count on 1 hand the artist who can successfully toe the line between both (Marvin, maybe Al Green in his day, R Kelly can do both, but his blunt stuff gets the most run)

Where as a singer like Rihanna will come right out and say shit like "Yeah lick this cake!, Im about to make you my bitch!" Jill Scott will talk about the same thing, in a metaphoric way. JIll is freaky as hell, but dont nobody really notice it because of her style
