"K Priest, Cappadona & others who blew they wad on their debut "
Tue Apr-17-12 02:30 PM by ABROCK33

u know the verses that the artist wrote and rewrote 100x before they said them so they actually got to marinate and become 1 w/ their verses so that when they presented them *KA-POW*

its like these MC's gave all they had to their debut but it depleted their resources severly. These rhymes we first heard from them made them but for various reasons they were never able to make it back to where they started.

Killah Priest-B.I.B.L.E.
KP has some stuff similar but still nothing as epic

Cappadonna-Winter Warz
Cappadonna used everything in his aresenal on that 1 song

Jeru-Come Clean
Jeru was pretty consistant on his debut but Come Clean was so strong that he just couldnt top it

O.C.-Times Up
O.C.-c'mon the song is the Constitution..I never expected him to top it but I also never expected him to make weak records

Nas-Live at the BBQ
Not really as he has had a long illustrous career with many highlights but still, There is something about the energy, reckless abandon and graphic imagry he presented on BBQ that he NEVER captured again even on Illmatic.

Volume 10-Pistolgrip Pump
then *crickets*

Keith Murray "Hostile"
Dude was illin out all over the first 2 lps but nowhere was he finer than on hostile. Extra P's for the video w him spittin w a razor in his mouth.
add on.....

It's the beat that makes the BBQ verse seem superior. Just envision the Back to The Grill verse on the BBQ beat and if anything the BBQ verse is only a teeny weeny bit better.

Heavy Mental got better songs than BIBLE (which I hate).

Cappadonna's debut LP was dope as hell and so slept on.

when i saw your post i knew it sounded familiar. i thought it was an old topic scorpion made about first albums, but this was the only active topic that was similarly phrased although not about the same thing. still, couldn't resist.
