>but for whatever reason never got to release that much >material.
cuz he sucks and his entire career consists of riding someone else's coattails. GTFOH with him saying on the Tribe doc that he's a member of ATCQ.
Lebron couldn't win a chip without two superstars from his draft class. He didn't just need help. The nigga needed the cheat code to enable god mode.(c)Kira

as I was having this discussion in another thread, and subsequently re-listened to MBDPF to catch some of the shit he was saying. I hate that album. It's got its moments though.
Like someone else said, it'd be impossible for him to pull of the "everyman" shit now because he's not even close to an everyman, but I do prefer the WAY he produced during his everyman days to his new pretentious shit. I find both MBDPF and WTT to be mostly unlistenable. And that sucks cause Kanye through Graduation was someone I looked forward to hearing every single time he dropped something.

I mean, if I listen to a guy and like his music, how am I supposed to know whether or not he's tricking me? Like, "Fuck, that bastard tricked me into enjoying something!" However artistic MBDTF is or isn't I get a rush listening to Power or Monster. So good job, I guess.
Also, sure, I like Kanye's early producing, but I mean, there are a lot of great scratchy soul-sample based beats in hip-hop. His new stuff sounds new! And he actually raps well now. And I never really liked his everyman persona. He always seemed like a fairly ridiculous asshole from time to time. I mean I enjoy "The New Workout Plan," but do you listen to that shit and think, "Oh, what a man of the people!" His sense of humor was so grating. At least now he kind of KNOWS how ridiculous he is. I think he's a lot funnier on record these days too.
And can we really call him "coked out" off a few lyrics in "Hell of a Life"?
he still got the occasional beat i feel. as to his rapping i dont see how anyone was ever feelin him in that area his punchline delivery grates on my nerves everytime and ruins ANY replay value. though it guess it makes his lines more memorable if more annoying

I mean..The College Dropout is mostly kind of an embarrassing, dated and a grating listen today.
I'd say he started becoming a fantastic artist first around Graduation. Late Registration is ok, but so overrated by certain people, and so masturbatory.

His album Blue Collar and mixtapes have the lyrics and wit you wish Kanye still had.

Rhymefests stuff better reflects what OP misses from the old Kanye.
