For some reason, that song just wasn't as catchy to me as it was to everybody else. I got nothing against it at all, it was perfectly fine, but when people around me would lose their minds about it, I was never quite with it.

which is why you never really hear it anymore at most younger hot spots, although you hear "Get low" which was primin at the exact same time. I thought it was a great cruisin round the block record.

Exactly, loved the Nighttrain remix (The original was great in it's self and then Pete Rock somehow made it even better) but never understood what was so great about the Shut Em Down remix. I guess some ppl don't enjoy that album from PE but love that era from Pete Rock? I don't hate it but doesn't blow me away by any means

Dope, but LMFAO @ people who are almost mad at Puffy n say "the Pete Rock version is waaaaaay better, that shoulda been the single!" It wouldn't have even been as big as Puba "I like it"
14. "Aren't they both technically Pete Rock versions?" In response to Reply # 7
It's funny if the next big commercial producer stole a beat from the top underground producer today it'd be the biggest beef ever, instead Pete Rock did the remix

I agree that I never really got the hype about KRS. His voice is grating to me, his pompous holier-than-thou attitude about hip-hop is off-putting, and I just never really felt his music. His flow is also just all over the place I feel like, at times. I grew up in the 90s so perhaps it's just due to the fact that I wasn't "there" for KRS' golden years, but I never put too much stock in that because I can still get into Rakim, Slick Rick, Run DMC, NWA and a lot of (most, actually) other hip-hop from the 80s. So I really don't think it's that.
But like I said, I'm not sure I agree that he had "weak rhymes". I just never personally could get into him for the reasons above.

dead prez "Hip Hop". never really thought too highly of it. actually, i feel the shit is kinda wack and it drives me up the fucking wall how it's an 'anthem' to so many people.
i get it, you're conscience. i respect that, but cmon son. really? maybe i'm just not into the whole southern bounce feel to it and the double time raps. nukkas used to get so hype to that shit and i'm standing there all sorts of confused.
i guess it's one of those cuts where the message overshadows the music, cuz the music itself is <waves hand> *meh*, if that.
