"RZA is better than Pete Rock to me. No diss-Pete Legend"

RZA is better than Pete Rock to me. No diss-Pete Legend. I hear alot of people name the best producers (especially from 90's era) and I think RZA=Premo and a little better than Pete Rock. I love PR. He is dope but doesnt have an LP produced better than Only Built for Cuban Linx to me (now Main Ingredient is his best produced LP and I would put it against maybe Ironman) but I just think pound for poind RZA is better than Pete Rock. Both legendary but I go wth RZA

Who would you say and why?

This also came from Timberland interview when he of course named himself, Kanye, Neptunes and the usual (premo and dre) as the best MC's...I know sound and taste plays a part ..........

You can laugh all you want my G. I'm grown and dont make shock post. Go listen to their best produced LP's and outside production and tell me its not a legit Hip Hop debate. Some fans are stuck on names. RZA is an amazing beat maker. So, I'll laugh as well yo. It's all good.

Personally I don't have any Pete or CL album anywhere near that ranking but who knows this is OKP where some folks have Main Ingredient in their Top 3.

But from an overall cannonical hip-hop-head consensus standpoint, this would be like getting mad at someone saying *insert MC here* doesn't have an album on par with Illmatic.

Not really that damning or eyebrow-raising as far as I can tell.

RZA always seemed like he was 'winging it'

respect to both but IMO PR is miles ahead.

RZA's impact and legacy cannot be denied. But his style was in the right place at the right time with the right talent backing him up. To say he's better than Pete is blasphemous, imo.

Heads act like I said 9th Wonder was better than Premo or some shit.

RZA is one of the best in the 90's and to my dude up top...tell me what PR LP is produced front to back better than Cuban Linx? Main Ingredient maybe but that is no stretch in nothing I said nor am I some young buck who doesnt understand hip hop or production. I was in high school and college at the height of both of their best work...

but The RZA birthed his own style. i don't remember anything sounding both as catchy and as harsh as the RZA's work on Enter the 36 Chambers and alot of the stuff he came up with up until Wu-Tang Forever.

I think of Pete as a master craftsman, but The RZA as a savant. Pete may have been more consistent while he was relevant, but The RZA was more impactful.

in 1992 and in 2012, I give it to Pete.

Rza had a good 3-5 year run when Pete didn't really have anybody to produce for. And even then, he snuck in the World is Yours.

No shame at all in saying you prefer RZA to Pete, I'd take at least five RZA-helmed albums before I named my first Pete/CL choice.

Yeah, I said the same thing. People act like this is a crazy statement. RZA is a legendary producer just like PR so you can compare. Thats like saying you cant compare Magic to Bird. Of course you can...and you should..lol

A well-thought comparison of the two would be sufficient, but to say one is better than the other is just ridiculous.

I have days when I just wanna hear some smoothed-out Rock ish; then I may switch it up to some dark and cold RZA. They are both the same to me...but my beef is the entire this well-respect producer is better than another well-respected producer, because there is no right or wrong answer to this....it's just wrong to discuss

The GREATS in every aspect of life are compared. What are you talking about?

Magic vs Bird
Jay-Z vs Nas
Celtics vs Lakers
Ali vs Frazier

Thats the way life goes....its not wrong to compare them. Some people think one is just better than the other...

Didn't I just say that!?! And my frustration about who is better is do to the fact that these kind of posts keep popping up every week, or bi-weekly...maybe more

Furthermore, you can make a claim to who is better with those comparisons you posted because they actually competed against one another, literally.
