He's successfully jacked the entire CAREER of his hero (Big), yet somehow managed to convince his stans that it's "paying homage".

And also he's way bigger than Game ever has been or will be so that makes him the best/most successful biter, too.

That said, I haven't heard it yet but I don't doubt that you're right about Game's new mixtape haha. Game definitely makes a good case.

but his biting is legendary and no one can or should deny that.

I mean, The Black Album...that ENTIRE concept from beginning to end was Big's idea. C'mon now.

he pays royalties on the lines he uses
check the credits on dynasty
he gives publishin' for usin' big for that openin' line
cuz he knew it was gonna be a hit

You think Big or his family needed Jay spitting his lines to "keep his memory alive"? Big's memory was gonna stay alive, and Big's family was gonna eat, whether or not Jay jacked all his lines. Sounds like a plea cop to me.

And this still doesn't explain Jay straight up JACKING and not even ACKNOWLEDGING the jack of the entire concept of The Black Album.

that's your right to take it that way, but i don't need to cop pleas for a grown man, and i'm sure he don't need me to cop pleas for him. what would i be pleading for? anyways...

i guess you've had your head in the sand. jay been wantin' to retire since his first lp. but to me, the black lp was a ploy to severe ties with dame and biggs and do his own thing. i saw past all that retirement crap and saw it as an end to an empire and the possible start of somethin' new

i'm not aware of big wanting to do a concept like the black lp. a link to an interview where he states that?

Who's got their head in the sand? You're gonna call me out like that and follow it up with speculation? Nice. Relax.

Anyway, Big's plan was to release an album called "The Black Album" with an all black cover, no pictures, nothing. Just black. It was to be his swan song from Bad Boy, his last album, before he started his own label. It was to feature a different producer on every track, with the top producers in the game. No features. Sound familiar?

The article was linked here semi-recently. When I got a second I'll try and find it myself.

I mean, you can argue that the idea for Ready to Die was lifted from Mr. Scarface is Back: borderline psychotic criminal seesawing from braggadocio to dark, anti-social introspection, and he dies at the end. But they're both great albums, so who gives a shit? Anyway, the black albums's a title that's been used by several artists, Jay's has writing and a graphic on the front, and there are multiple Kanye and Just Blaze tracks. I mean, don't like it if you don't like it! By all means!

If you read the entire exchange I've made it perfectly clear that I love Jay, he's had a great career, would have made it as big as he has with or without biting Big.
And I love the Black Album. One of my favorites, in fact.

I just tend to think that his biting goes TOO far and reading the Black Album story just put it over the top. It's been way past "paying homage" for a long time now.

But again, I love his music. It's just my opinion. If you want to ignore the biting and call it "homage" that's your prerogative. The post asked a question, I responded with my thoughts.

Breaking down every single lyric/line/action in Jay's career that was "homage" to Big would be an exercise in futility.

I'd honestly like to see it. The only thing Jay may have 'jacked' was a few of his lines - of which I still count as paying homage - and possibly his flow. Though, Jay developed his own flow into something that others began biting hard. Plus, if we go down that route then can't we just as easily say that Biggie jacked BDK, Rakim and Snoop Dogg?

Like I said, my breaking down every single way that Jay has bitten Big would be an exercise in futility because you just don't agree. And that's fine.

You say it's paying homage.

I say it's way over the top and surpassed "homage" years ago.

That's all there is to it.

but at times he can sound EXACTLY like Nas; like on Make the World Go Round.

It's probably because he seems like he's cool with damn near everyone, plus he's not really a threat, AKA no one really cares.

he is 'The Game" after all, that is his whole thing. He is so much a fan/student of hip-hop that he can transform into any rapper.

First it was the name dropping, which was his showing off his hip-hop knowledge/standom, and now it's the various flows and delivery..WHILE ON the same track of said rapper he's channeling..almost to prove the point...

Yeah he is blurring the lines between biting and homage, but I always thought that was his hook

cause he knows this is what makes him "different"

the name dropping and the mimicking

I just want him to rap real good and pick good beats...

which he can do

Doctors ADvocate was a damn good album

but he just can't make that classic cause he cater too much and think too hard now.

and to be a good biter he has to have a career that actually counts and his career doesn't count, even in this watered down time period that turkey is at best a legit 2nd tier rapper.

truth is he is about as deep as Chingy and Makes Nelly come across like SLick Rick.

Game bites because he has no real Game. however he was marketed to sell a up date of the west coast and also to cross over and it worked for a minute until ears got tired of his name dropping and predictable runs.

he will get more due than he should.

if you gonna bite then do like Jay Z and have a career that actually counts. not be a Puppet and be so marginal.

the game because he keeps a hit and he didn't come off as a made for tv rapper as the game does. Lay Z being overrated has more to do with his career and whatnot, the Game is just a hired hand from the Universal set IMO.

I don't care about biting that much provided the artist puts his own spin on it. Jay was able to make Young Chris's style his own. When Game raps like Nas, he just sounds like he's doing a impression, albeit a good impression.

Never could say I disliked the man's style, or liked it. I'm just impartial to the man's music.
