the production and his rapping on this is on point, objectively speaking. You cannot tell me otherwise,

no bullshit, i really do.
i even gave the tape 2-3 full listens, as i did Sleeping In Class
& its really not a "its gonna grow on me" kinda thing in this case, its actually just the opposite. there is very little hear to grasp on to or even care about really.
his writing is way too basic in its approach & cat-in-the-hat'ish in form for me like every single line the first time i heard it, i'm like "yup. and.....????"
& yea, i guess the beats are cool - some are kinda tight, others not so much. as a whole, i'm not really mad at em but they're not really saving the effort as a full project either.
he seems like a real nice guy tho, got a great team behind him i'm sure he'll continue to do really well, & i'm not mad at him for it
i just wish the standards were a little higher for rapper's rap abilities at the moment, but again - thats not really his fault either.
i mean... "on point"????? so what. theres a million rappers releasing stuff right now, if its not GREAT - keep it away from me.
but like i said... he does have great videos & online presence/content. he's really winning off of that, much moreso than i think some of his fans want to admit.
I think rap is kind of splintering right now between those who define themselves as lyricist first, and those who make mood music in the form of rap. Casey kind of wavers between both, but is definitely making more mood music.
Likewise, the fanbase is kind of sort of doing the same thing, and on a lot of days I just want to hear some cool sounding shit, same as a I feel when Im listening to Based God, or ASAP. Casey is a great SOUNDING rapper, great voice, i love his drawl, and I think he's only going to get better. I think he also says a lot of mature shit for his age. But he's not trying to wow you on some MF Doom/Rakim type highbrowness, most aren't trying either.

16. "I'ma fan but off first listen I'm really not feeling this" In response to Reply # 0
I'll have to give it some more burn but right now it doesn't even seem like a step up from Sleeping In Class, which is what I expected since that project dropped over a year ago. Not much improvement on the mic, and these beats outside of a few are iffy at best.

Optimistic young folk...imagine that!
Makes me wonder about why Tyler tries to ride the dark, angry punk thing so much... OFWGKTALMNOPWGUWGUVUTFFIYHV's music otherwise has a pretty good feel to it.
25. "So after listening to this for a few days..." In response to Reply # 0
I really love it... His rhymes haven't improved greatly from Sleeping in Class and the beats are on par and I think a little better than the ones on Sleeping in Class... But this kid is kind of like a breath of fresh air to me... He's a kid rapping about the shit he knows about... I can appreciate that... Kinda takes me back to high school days... He sounds like he's really having fun on this shit...
