i dig the rocks solo material, but "tacklebox" is just super-dope to me. "gone fishin'" eventually got sort of old to me, but "tacklebox" just came from the left with some retro-futuristic ish, and i keep revisiting.

maybe i need to spin the solo tapes some more.

that first Instant Classics mixtape was exactly that. and their album last summer was all kinds of trill. Chuck Inglish probably had the best list of production credits in 2011, he slaughtered everything he touched.

Was it gimmicky? Sure. Still, they managed to carve a lane for themselves being at the forefront of the mid 80s sonic revival.

The Sir Michael Rocks stuff is "good Hip-Hop". But it's somewhat interchangeable with a gang of stuff from back in the day, and bunch of shit that nobody gives a fuck about that's all over the net right now.

The only reason people are paying attention is because he's that guy from The Cool Kids.
