"has jay taken the backseat on both 'big' collabs projects?"

best of both worlds:
kelz sang the hooks and it was mostly trackmasters, who were into kelz at the time (fiesta),

watch the throne:
basically a 'mdtf-style' production approach w/ ye basically molding the musical background

jay kinda shows up and delivers a verse on both, right?
no diss.
he'll probably take control when his beyjay album actually happens

I can't imagine him taking or even wanting creative control of projects, especially when Ye is more than happy to do just that. His job is to show up, lay verses, and plaster his name on it so it cn sell. maybe give some input on how to make it "hot."

and write songs. The only thing Jay writes is lyrics, so besides picking out beats or describing an overall vision, he's not really gonna be involved in the creative direction of a collaborative album.

say that to me because WTT felt more like a Jay album produced by Kanye than a Ye + Jay collab.

Like I hardly remember any of Kanye's verses on there, except for his verses on Who Gon Stop Me, Niggas In Paris, and Murder To Excellence.....

but Jay's just a rapper, so you can't really expect him to create an album that's completely his, all he can do is direct the sound.

I know there was footage of Jay in the studio but it's not like he spit new verses or anything (or if he did, they made up like 4% of the EP)

I mean otherwise he should stick to Jay-z albums. Look at Distant Relatives, although I'm sure Nas helped craft the album it definitely felt like the Marleys had a larger part in shaping the album.

Like yeah he did let Ye control most of WTT.....until it was about to drop. I remember Jay saying that alot of the songs that didn't make it (I assume the version that was gonna be when HAM dropped) was "too complex"...then all the songs they made afterward felt like Jay songs "Murder To Excellence" "Otis" "Who Gon' Stop Me".

BOBW....trackmasters were in charge. Which is 1 of the reasons that album failed.

Only one that still goes is really "Take you home" or whatev. Honey and some of those songs were cool on some 10:45, I'm still at the bar drinkin, but they were aiming to make an entire album of "Fiesta (remix)" and barely anything on the album would have been as big, even without Pissgate killin it all.
