It sort of bores me but, still, I just listen to it because. I don't like their debut but Devotion was one of my most listened to albums that year and Teen Dream is one of my favorites of the past five years, but this one is just kind of there. Feels like they got sort of stuck in place a little bit, it's their most pop album in many ways but the songs aren't sinking in like they did so consistently on Teen Dream, and there's definitely no "Wedding Bells" or "Gila".
There's nothing that absolutely flattened me on first listen like Silver Soul. I'll wait until a better quality rip is out before I make my final judgement on it.

won't get into the <,>,= to Teen Dream thing... this album just has a different feel (the sound is tighter, and i hear more live drums/piano vs the usual drum machine/synthy-sound), but i think it's as good as anything they've done. last track is so good. and "New Year"..holy shit

I'll have to hear the whole thing. The promotional single did nothing for me. People were ejaculating all over themselves about it on Last.FM. Sometimes, I wonder if fans could ever be honest with themselves and admit when their favorite artists just aren't delivering.
It sounds just like everything I've already heard from them, and not only that, but the duller songs. BH is clearly a talented duo, I feel they can expand on their sound and do so much more with it. I hope the rest of the album doesn't sound like Teen Dream/Devotion/(self-titled) b-sides.

But "Troublemaker" is equal to the best tracks on TD, and you can hear them expanding their sound a bit on "Wishes" and "Irene", the former track being a bit rockier and harder than their usual stuff, the latter is straight up drone pop.
