Rapper Yasiin Bey nabs lead in Curious George live action film Fox Execs eying release date of next year By Andrew Stewart
Emmy and Grammy award-nominated rapper, Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def, was announced through press release on Tuesday as the choice for the lead role in 20th Century Fox new live action adaptation of the popular children's book series, Curious George.
Bey, 38, will be playing the role of George alongside of previously announced Tom Hanks -- who will reportedly be starring in the role of Ted - the man in the yellow hat.
The films producer, Wyck Godfrey, announced that the rapper just narrowly edged out another hip-hop heavyweight for the role -- Tyler The Creator. Claiming that, despite being a perfect fit, executives at the studio felt was "too tall for the role".
The film is presently scheduled for a summer 2013 release.
