"Slash or John Mayer a Better Guitar Player?"


          

just curious who of these two just based on tone and feel and also versatility moves you more on the axe and why?

Slash does alot of session work and John Mayer gets on alot of session work as well through the years and which of these cats has moved you the most when they shread?

They're different. Slash is all rock'n'roll while Mayer is more blues and elements of Jazz. Slash's style is way more in your face while Mayer is a little more nifty with his. Mayer probably has a more well-balanced education on theory/improvision while Slash is all feel.

I will say though that Slash has many classic guitar solos that are staples and every rock guitar player will learn at some point, while Mayer has not one. Slash also has developed a clear defined style and tone that he has claim to, while Mayer doesn't really have one. IMO

I've seen him live four times and he demolishes shit at the end when he just goes improv.

he is not good at all. Not in his songs, not in his live show, not ever in his life

Slash can do anything John Mayer can 100x better, while John Mayer would get carpal tunnel syndrome tryin to keep up with Slash.


DISCLAIMER: GnR has been my favorite band since i was 8 and i cant stand John Mayers music, but I dont believe that has led to any bias on my part while forming this opinion
