"Can We Talk About Prince' Rendition of Parlet's "Cookie Jar"?"
I've been all over his 88/89 period lately, due to his production of Patti LaBelle "Love 89", it just dawned on me that Prince' BEST harmony arrangements were during this period. He experimented a lot with his harmony use, and precisely his singing in "Love 89", which what sparked my interest.
So, as I was skimming through his 88/89 material trying to find something of similarity, I unexpectedly stumbled upon this monster after YEARS of skipping it: http://youtu.be/7gyAgS-2cak

then they go into the Cosmic slop groove..
the first Sugar shack performance was an interesting time....for one it's one of the very rare performances when Bootsy and Catfish were actually playing as band members in Funkadelic....and then you have a horn section..
to me it's about as pure as it gets as far as Funkadelic advancing to the P-Funk...with the funkadelic psychadelic sound along with the horns..
the version of All your goodies are gone on that is riddiculous...
