"does kanye west still get production placements?"
outside of that album he released in 2010 and the other one in 2011, i don't remember seeing a (produced by kanye west) credit anywhere. albeit, i'm not looking. but do rappers still get beats from "kanye"?

but yeah he still gets them, his name still means something so they'll check for him as long as that's the case

when he was busy on the boards and not so busy with his image. The last 3-4 years of his career have bored me to tears. I miss tracks like "Guess Who's Back" and shit like that. "Kanye West on the track..."

Back in the early-mid 2000's big name producers could charge $80k-$100k for a beat, plus get points on sales. I remember a Rodney Jerkins interview I saw from his mansion where he said he paid for the entire house off of one beat he did for Britney Spears. But then the home studio revolution happened, and you had kids making beats that became hits. After a couple years, the Neptunes, Kanye, etc. couldn't charge nearly as much for their work, so I'm sure they lost motivation to do tons of beats for others.

i think if he really tried he could go back to doing beats, but he might not care enough... it's not like he has to work again, and there isn't the same attention from just making beats

That the last 3 projects Ye's has worked on (Watch The Throne,Cruel Summer & MBDTF), he's been too focused to pass anyone else stuff. Which also explains why even his own crew hasn't got much (no Ye beats for Big Sean, CyHi has only had a couple, none for Teyana, couple for Push).
This may sound lame, but I think to get beats from ye you gotta be around him...and then motivate him to work directly. I don't think just reaching out is gonna work...and he isn't gonna give you beats just for a check either.
Then look at his track record, he isn't giving beats to the "hot" rappers of the moment...his usual suspects haven't done much lately either or been doing their own thing (ex: Twista,Hov,Common)
I would be surprised if Pusha & Big Sean's LP didn't have Ye's tho...even if they are scraps from CS. I wonder if he's gonna really work much this year with the baby coming?
