eneration. to a 17-18 year old , this is a concious rapper. and he is.

to the older heads, he's insightful. and he is.

to the hoes, he's fly. he talks fly shit.

to the record labels he's a home run.

the highly bankable, slyly concious, remarkably insightful, fly shit talkin motherfucker that hoes love and bitches hate.

must feel good to be drake.

Good content, the hook was super catchy although annoying as hell to some of us. But I understood how it blew up...I first heard it and knew it was a hit.

I don't see how that counts. Either way, good for him.

EDIT: I'm giving him "I'm On One" because I really still have no idea what Khaled does.

our (Drake detractors) point?

dude is a manufactured POP star

Is the next Drake thread, in addition to being the 1,000 post on him in 2012, going to be

"Drake breaks celebrity crush record!!"

or

"Drake endorses new eyeliner!" or some sh!t?

I mean, I guess this is an interesting little fact...but not exactly something to be used as a "see!! he dope" kind of thing

proves my point.

The buying power of teenagers and women.

Dude is a living, breathing one man boy band.

He is the long lost Backstreet Boy.

He is the real-life manifestation of Glee.

If you a grown a$$ man and you are on dude's d*ck, you gotta wonder about you.

And it aint about hating success. Ye is successful. Jay, etc.

But this dude has turned every 14 year old's private journal into a music catelog and some of yall LOVE it...maybe cuz its over atmospheric production (dude does pick excellent beats that suit him...I'll give him that)

I just think people should expect more.

Yeah.. no. He isn't a Rhianna, Katy Perry ect. There is no legitimate argument that can be made that he is. Dude just knows how to write a relatable and catchy song to the only generation that still BUYS music.

Eminem was never a MANUFACTURED POP STAR, Jay-Z was never a MANUFACTURED POP STAR, and either is Drake, they came up with a style that just happened to make them popular.

Seriously. You are trying to paint this image that he has production picked for him, and his hits planned ala Rhianna ect. He doesn't. Weather or not his parents helped him into the industry is irrelevant. Plenty of people have had Lil' Wayne's backing, why didn't THEY make it big?

And yes, whether you like it or not his 808s and HeartBreaks meets Southern Bounce Music meets early 90s R'n'B sound is fairly original.

would have me thinking Ja Rule gets more credit than Drake just for sounding harder.

I'm never gonna understand this infatuation with masculinity among old hip-hop heads. That grimy shit is great but good, enjoyable music trumps all. I don't care if it's coming from Guilty Simpson or Drake, dope is dope.
