"What unconfirmed/finally confirmed unreleased albums are out there?"

Jakob's mention of George Clinton's "Black Vampire" got me wondering about that album as well as others we may or may not know about. I went searching for info about the aforementioned album and came across this bit of info on another message board:

George Clinton - The Black Vampire (early 1970s)
Parliament - Upsouth (mid 1980s)

Also

Funkadelic - Throbbasonic Attack (1977). This became One Nation Under A Groove but it was recorded before Junie Morrison joined. Since it was recut and Junie is largely reponsible for the One Nation Album I'd assume that this is significantly different.

Anyone know about any of these albums? What other unreleased albums are rumored to exist? Are there any previously rumored albums that have been confirmed? You can include unreleased tracks besides full albums.

At least we know about some of Stevie's unreleased material during his classic period. I remember reading (on here I believe) that he always denied that he had unreleased songs from that period.

I'm unclear what they were, exactly. Some places (the old David Axelrod Information Society, for instance) seem to think that they were actual Axelrod albums: http://web.archive.org/web/20040617081450/http://www.geocities.com/damasjohn/

But in interviews (the Wax Poetics one, for instance), Axe has said that these were simply collaborative works where he was brought in as producer and/or arranger.

In any case, I don't think he actually received credit for the stuff, because he definitely didn't get paid for it. He's never said what or who exactly the projects were (this seems intentional). The stuff could've been released for all I know.

>Parliament - Upsouth (mid 1980s)

"Upsouth" being a term often used north of WV about 'cism in the Northern United States. Plus add the fact that it would have been released under the "Parliament" name and in the mid 1980s... and I'm right there.

I wonder if it would have sounded like the P-Funk All-Stars album from '83 which I was put on to in the early '90s... that was underrated in their catalog.

...did it have songs touching on topics that could've easily been placed on the so called Upsouth album?

I'm wondering how much different ONUAG sounded when it was Throbbasonic Attack. I wonder what tracks may have been shelved once Junie was added...of course if said album is real.

I assume he's referring to Urban Dancefloor Guerillas a.k.a. Hydraulic Funk. You should hear it, it's one of the best later P-Funk releases before they got truly dire in the 90s. I don't recall the subject matter being oriented that way though unless I just wasn't paying close enough attention - which is a possibility always with GC.

It was supposed to be Bjork, RZA & Goldie I think. Just wonder if any of it exists. It actually had release dates.

I see an ATCQ ep listing, Jay-Z with "Heir to the Throne" (not sure if that was an original title before a name change of an album he did drop), ODB "Revolution: The Black Man is God", etc, etc.

I wonder if any of these albums (plus ones I didn't mention) have been shelved, or just titles that were gonna be used before they changed the name, or were just merely rumors?

...I saw that Heltah Skeltah was supposed to drop "Nocturnal II: The Nigga Bible". Anutha Level was supposed to drop an album at the time as well. Big Jaz with a Rocafella release (I know he turned down the offer but I wonder if he already had an album in the can?).

I know the original version of "Thought @ Work" was supposed to be on the album, but I wonder how much else was recorded, or how much of it became tracks on "Phrenology" and "The Tipping Point."

I think they got as far as "Heat" (which became "Ghetto Fabolous"), but that's about it.

From all of their albums. I imagine there must be some scraps. They were in studios together me thinks. IMO GSW >>>> 4 Horsemen which more or less boils down to Ahmad >>>>> Canibus!!!

Holy shit did I say that!! And I mean it too. In the group context. Ahmad was a better foil for Saafir and Ras. But wait doesn't Xzibit play in there too in some way. I'll just say I never liked Canibus (mostly the voice).

It was scrapped for a good reason though, it was pretty weak save for "That Bitch" and a few other cuts. The full length that was released wasn't stellar, but it was a marked improvement over the demo.

There was an EP worth of heavy hitters, but overall it was underwhelming and deserved to be scrapped. I've never seen it available on the net. I'm 95% sure the Maximum Strength that was released a few years ago isn't the same album.
