"Just copped that new Homeboy Sandman vinyl on Stones Throw"
Tue Jan-24-12 01:55 PM by imcvspl

https://www.stonesthrow.com/news/2012/01/homeboy-sandman-subject-matter

All I've heard ST wise was that NY Nights and that ain't even on it.
This isn't one of those 'look at me supporting' posts though.
This is a GODDAMN I HATE GETTING FUCKED BY VINYL posts.

First of all $9.99 for an EP is a great vinyl price. But it kinda negates itself when you try to convince me that shipping via USPS is $6.30. That's two thrids the price of the vinyl to ship it domestically. FOH!

But I'm an idiot. I like vinyl, I buy vinyl. I've become addicted all over again so yeah you gonna fuck me, that's cool, take my money, cause the vinyl gonna come right (don't get me started on the label that took my money and STILL ain't shipped me no vinyl).

So I get the receipt in my email and all and I already knew it wasn't but I was kinda hoping you knos Stones Throw and all there'd be a download code included nah meen. The receipt says, click this link for digital files. So I click it.... nada.

C'MON SON!! It's 2012. After you just butt fuck me like that at least you can give me a download to make me feel like the music makes it worth it.

</rant>

Something less aggy:

Looks like Stones Throw is also doing a music subscription service. https://www.stonesthrow.com/news/2012/01/stones-throw-digital-discography-music-subscription-dripfm

How do yall feel about these. I know ghostly did one and the people I know who subscribe say its dope, but I'm not quite convinced. Any labels you'd shell out $10/month for their entire catalog?

I would buy more CDs from ST, but it's much cheaper to order them from Amazon.co.uk, especially at 3rd party prices.

The last record I bought from them was OJ Simpson; cost me over £16 or so. I can't keep paying that price when I can get it for like £8 via Amazon. Shame, because i want more bumper stickers with my orders!

i had a notebook in college that had some stickers on it, but otherwise i have no use for them... they're a nice gesture, but they're not incentives for me to buy

i put a NIN and a warp records logo sticker on my mom's car when i was still a teenager, but i don't put any on my car

the best thing i've done with stickers since graduating has been putting some football players on a recycling bin that neighbors kept taking because they couldn't tell it wasn't theirs. the stickers that came with recent beck and radiohead albums to "personalize" them i haven't used and don't plan to.

I had an awesome looking locker, imo. :p

But I also put them on one of my cd spinners or one of the large bookcases I got from when Borders closed.

I still like stickers and posters.

cd spinners?

my discman still has an aphex twin "come to daddy" video sticker and a goldfinger logo sticker on it

>I still like stickers and posters.

i love and miss posters. unfortunately, i was convinced that adults don't tape posters to the walls of their house or apartment, so i've been completely poster free since '05. i had the good sense to keep all my beloved old posters so maybe i'll frame a couple eventually.

Yeah, this is one of those seemingly minor things that gets me worked up more than it should lol. But I will NEVER get rid of my posters. And I have a ton, ranging from giant to small, and most in stellar condition despite being older than some OKP's. The lady is cool with this.

Right now they're in storage as I'm in a transition period, but they'll go back up in the mancave/office/basement/fun room. Some of the nicer one's I might frame and could potentially make their way out of my private sanctuary, but I'm ok with keeping them out of the main living areas.

For now...just on my laptop. I don't know where else to put them without worrying about it looking tacky. Maybe when I get my own apartment (or/and car) I can find some furniture or something to stick them on.

I copped the Mp3 off ST with no delay. Amazon has the CD on back order for like $15.

10 a month isn't bad...depending on if ST doesn't take months off release wise. I wonder does the service include Now-Again too? I think I'm gonna get it...

I still prefer physical copies, but I could be tempted depending on the amount of releases they'll have coming out.

I mean, right now I'm going to get Homeboy Sandman's EP anyways and that's $5.99. For $4 more bucks I get the M.E.D. "Classic" instrumentals (which I kinda wanted anyways), with The Minimal Waves Tape, Vol. 2 being an interesting extra for me (not really my thing, but some of the tracks I like).

Obviously, the value of it hinges on stuff coming out that I like. I guess as long as for each month at least 1-2 releases came out that I was feeling and would have copped anyways then it's worth it. And even if there was a disappointing month here and there, I HAVE to believe there would be those releases that just by themselves justify the 10 bucks for that month.

Ten dollars a month really isn't that much.

I love it severely. The production warm and analogy....just the way I like it. And Homeboy is my favorite MC on the mic right now.

Long live the EP!
