"Wyclef"
Thu Jan-12-12 10:42 AM by maro

Just yesterday I was thinking how I haven't listened to a Wyclef album since the carnival. However, I played the shit outta that album when it dropped and for years after. Decided to put it on today and give it another spin, and got dayum this album is fun to listen to in light of what's new these days.

Have ya'll listened to any wyclef albums since The Carnival?

According to Wiki he has quite a few, reminds me of the KRS ONE album list I haven't listened to

2000: The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II a Book (Columbia)
2002: Masquerade (Columbia)
2003: Greatest Hits (Columbia)
2003: The Preacher's Son (J)
2004: Welcome to Haiti: Creole 101 (Koch)
2007: Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant (Columbia)
2009: From the Hut, To the Projects, To the Mansion (Columbia)
2010: If I Were President: The Haitian Experience (Columbia)

lurkin since 1999. werd.

Probably only even listened to two Wyclef songs post Carnival, both from "The Eclectic": The Kenny Roger/Monch mash-up and "Perfect Gentleman." And the latter I heard at a Halloween party in 2006.

All that said, "The Carnival" was a great album.

Not saying it's better, it's just a lot more fun to me. The rest are... um... you can find a good song here and there.

Ecleftic was where he started really going off the rails with the forced cameos & rudimentary genre excursions to me.

A lot of it has not traveled very well (mostly the early 2000s stuff... but I'm biased against that era in general) but much of it still bangs imo
