THAT'S the part I don't get. Well, why even go through the motions of pressing it up?

Nothing wrong with that. But bear in mind that not too many people are gonna pay for something that you've already given away. And don't believe that "if I like it, I'll buy the actual CD" shit that people spout off on here...
But in all seriousness, Good Luck with the project. There's nothing like the feeling of holding a copy of your own shit in your hands.

Couple reasons:
-You saw the post in The Lesson in the past few months how someone said they don't want to listen to projects that only exist as free mp3s because it feels like it doesn't really exist or isn't "worth" anything? On some level, probably a lot of people feel like that. This project is "worth" a lot to me, so I want to feel like it is legitimized, and potential bloggers/fans to feel it it is "legit", by existing as an actual CD.
-I know it's possible it might get completely ignored, but I'd like to send it to magazines/blogs that only accept physical copies in hopes of reviews. Same with college radio; I got a college radio station in Seattle to play a track just through sending e-mail and the feeling of knowing that happened is great, but many college radio stations only accept physical copies.

It's something I'd listen to even if Amp wasn't a friend of mine. In the same vein as the Burial/James Blake/Four Tet/RJD2 stuff I've been feeling lately.

I quieted down a bit with trying to promote it because I had the impression I should wait til it gets closer to January to go full steam ahead, I figured I'd just make another post then.
i just finished "wasteland." interesting to hear your vocals. nice demos. i assume these are from the same sessions. the album itself is in rotation and one of my favorites of the year. i hope you find the success you deserve.
i initially intended the 3 demos to be on the album and went as far as to record live drums on "crumble" and "wasteland" (that were scrapped), but i wasn't feeling like they fit with the rest of the album and i couldn't get the mixes to sit 100% right with me...but i still love those 3 tracks
also are you the dude who rocked with the CunninLynguists at the qn5 show a couple years back? i wasnt there, but i remember someone from the qn5 boards talkign about getting to play the show with them.
