but i will say i hated hearing vanilla ice everywhere. i hated him getting a scene in the TMNT movie, and i hated ice ice baby, and his explanation of how it's different than the original. i also hate the fact that hammer gets lumped in with him sometimes.

And that was probably the first "major" one. It probably was also responsible for the slew of HORRIBLE love songs that appeared on many a rapper's album during the late '80s/early '90s. For that reason alone, it deserves to be hated.

it wasn't all hiphop. just the mainstream. i wanted to love it. hiphop had been the light of my life for so long... but i knew something wasn't right and hadn't been for a while, then that '41 seconds of a track sum'd it up.
and i could no longer just eat what i was being fed by just consuming hip hop for hip hop sake.
and pretty much wrote off the whole genre because of it.... for about 18 months anyway. i would diliberately listen to anything else indie rock, emo, alt-country, anti-folk, jam bands... Then i stumbled on a demo of a little track called "jesus walks" by some dude named kane west(that's how i pronounced to my friends) and i tripped back down a new rabbit hole... my faith was revived, and i went digging for the goods. they were always there. but the time off did me some good.

this song made me hate the business side of hip hop. i hope there were label politics or something that brought this collab together but it shouldn't have ever happen.
