For me Esthero was the best project he'd ever worked on. Her follow up album suffered without him something awful. Funniest quote ever is when Questo said he was with Esthero and she wouldn't 'shut the fuck up' cause she talked about herself all night.
Res was cool. HOB is cool. I dunno. A lot of hype here.
that CSS project is more interestin than any of this.

Yeah...the production is amazing, that can't be denied. But the lyrics, ehhh it's everything I hate about modern R&B to be honest. I was actually going to make a thread about it, R&B artists keep advancing to new levels when it comes to production but they aren't even fucking trying with the lyrics...

i hate the song were he has 32 bar singing verses...lol..other than that this rivals Drake's So Far Gone mixtape as far as replay value. Might as well slap three more tracks on it and put it out as an album.
the weeknd is buzzing right now. only good thing about twitter is you can check what people are talking about. and between that, facebook and the blogsphere, this project got people talking.

It's good. Just really pretentious. It seems to expand on Kanye's 808s and Mr. Hudson's Straight No Chaser, which were stripped down "colder" versions of Massive and Portishead. The song writing is seriously lacking and though I do not mind the use of fuck and nigga in R&B, he goes over board and comes across crass. The songs are also awfully long the mood and point was made @ the 2:30/3 min mark but they all drag on into the 5-7min range. House of Balloons and Wicked are undeniable. that's definitely what I'm hearin here.
nostalgia,ultra & hob are extensions of a lotta So Far Gone & some of the stuff the-dream's doing; really dope production but the actual singing is average (lyrics + voice). there's definitely elements (imo) from Cudi's stuff which was an extension of what Mr.Hudson & Ye did on Straight No Chaser & 808s.

Very moody and melancholy..I think you have to be in the mood to listen to it imo. 'Cos after a while it just feels like its dragging along, along along..great effort though overall.

Hella people are still talking about Frank Ocean, but hardly any talk about the Weeknd, or seem to even know who he is when I bring him up... It's not even close if you ask me... House of Balloons is a much better album than Nostalgia...
