was my first moka record and completely blew me away, the whole thing comes off very dilla-ish to me on the production tip and the rhymes are all dope - love it.will be shocked if it drops out of my rap top 5 for this year....

The Ummah influence is obvi. But he's got so much more than that. He's hands down the best hook man in hip hop, ever. EVER. Better than Nate Dogg, Devin, Cee Lo etc.

He said: 'I'm inspired, I'm prepared, I'm inspired and prepared to be the rare'.

The dude is just flat out better than everyone else.

how crazy is this song?

And trust me, I'll ride for anyone, popular or not, if they are indeed better or I think they should be spoken for. Moka is dope. In just about everything that he does.

But Nate is GOAT. It's blasphemous to say otherwise. Nate is one of those guys who was wildly popular for a reason. He wasn't just pushed by labels and forced down our throats. He got popular on his own talent and was incredibly sought after for a reason. Nate is GOAT. There is no debate. I'm sorry. I respect your opinion. But this isn't a matter of opinion. It's a documented fact.

Nate wasn't pushed by labels? Word?

I can cite probably 100 Moka hooks that i'd take to a desert island over the classic Nate stuff. Half of the Nate charm was he was bad/good. Once the initial Death Row run was over and he was stuck doing shitty songs with guys like Fabolous it became apparent Nate wasn't saving bad songs. Moke outchea dominating choruses with elegance of a gazelle in complete obscurity.

Nate has the hits, iconic status & visibility no doubt. Music is a completely different story.

And that comment is unrelated to Nate Dogg because I'm not really a fan of his at all.

But every hook you linked up from Moka and every line you quotes was some regular shit.

Like real regular.

Not amazing at all.

I'm running through these tracks like.."yeah its dope, but its all starting to blend together"

That I was missing something.

Someone were to suggest a list of his top 15/25 tracks, absolute best non-repetitive tracks, I'd probably bump regularly.

But after a while its all starting to sound the same...

What's funny is there are a few people in here asking to be convinced...but for some reason you won't.

Don't get me wrong, I think Moka is clearly talented and I have no beef with you for loving an artist like this. Dude seems like a genuine cat who loves what he does.

But when you get on some ole "GOAT" and "I couldn't even narrow it down to 100 songs"...

you are sounding like you are street teaming...and not very well either. (because you won't even make a quick best of to gain him new fans)

And you can keep quoting his stuff, but that doesn't make it more impressive than when we heard him say it.

Seems like he is pretty damn repetitive to me. And while I think his beats are dope, his hooks are pretty good to very good...I have yet to hear bars or a concept that has moved me. At all.

The bars are the last part of "getting" Moke's musical wave. I was initially reeled in by the production and harmonizing. If you eventually become as immersed in his world as I have the rhymes become really enjoyable.

I could throw ya like 30 monster tunes as a starter pack. You'll have to span many albums, though. I'm being totally sincere when I say I created a Moka playlist 7 months ago and it's up over 400 songs and 1000 minutes.

After the Mets game I'll get busy.

I mean I like niche music as much as the next guy, but you guys talk about these underground artists like they should be playing on radio five times a day, and then when i click the link it's all cool, slightly nsecure guys rapping over roughly mixed, sleepy, loungy beats.

Can anyone even tell me the words to that chorus? Is there a quotable in that verse? I like that song, but it just sounds like an album track bidden on the second side of some album from the early 00s.

The reason people hail songs like Sucker MCs or I Ain't No Joke or Shook Ones Part II isn't because they were imbued with some everglowing essence of hip-hop. It was because they were clearly mixed, excellently produced songs with a clear, identifiable message.

Sometimes I feel us here fail to contextualise our songs into the broader genre is all.

Moka isn't even slightly insecure. He's a charismatic, 6'5" B-Boy who eats pancakes with your favorite bitch over incredible production then sangs the hook. One man band. Boundless ball of creative energy. He doesn't need an engineer, he's efficient with his gear. And said song is mixed well.

He's certainly weird. Not at all insinuating his music should be on pop radio. Just saying that I, as a person with immaculate taste, find his music to be the absolute best out at the moment. Being I know from good rap, I tend to speak authoritatively.

The hook to that song is in my fist post. "Lets all follow all our dreams, ahhhhhhhhhhoooohaahhhhhhh". He ran it throo warping effects.
