"why is dangelo still signed?"

i mean... really?

what was he even hitting for back when albums sold a lot just on the strength of video rotation in the late 90's/early 00's...

1.5m? in 1999/2000 when albums were scanning 1.7 million first week?
come on...

dude isn't even going to scan 100k whenever he drops the dud he's been working on the last 2-12 years.

so what's even the point of giving this guy a major release?
he's adult-contemporary age now anyway.
nothing he drops is going to be relevant to anyone under 35.

if an act like boyz II men was pruned from a major label roster after being THE MOST SUCCESSFUL R&B ACT OF THE ENTIRE 1990's...

how can any label exec really justify d'angelo being signed to a major in 2013?

---
i just want to opine in peace.

If you know how to market an artist properly, ask one of your contacts for how to talk with Michael Archer and/or his management so you can coordinate the next phase of his career. We'll be hear to congratulate you in 2015 when he's nominated for a Grammy "Album Of The Year" award.

After such a heavy investment at this point, might as well stick around for any upside rather than cut him and let others catch any upside if there is some.

when you sign a record contract, the terms are based on albums

he prolly has more albums due under contract.

if you're the label and you release him, someone else will pick him up if there's an album to release and there's a potential to look like an ass
