and Ghost gets harder & harder to listen to with each passing year. Masta Killa killed it on the posse joint. The last song (I Go Hard) is fucking terrible. I was expecting Chamber Music/Legendary Weapons quality, but as I feared this album is pretty uncohesive like most soundtracks. Will probably still buy it to support the Clan though.

Some interesting shit here. The younger rappers don't sound out of place here for the most part. Joell Ortiz kinda rapping like Roc Marci was jarring but the style worked surprisingly well for him.

Its for a film getting a considerable amount of promotion, features A-list hollywood directors and actors/actresses
Commercials on major media events, tv shows
And when you talk to the production team (including Tarantino), they all mention the music as a centerpiece of the project
The only reason its not getting attention in the Lesson is that talking about this project doesn't help the self esteem of your average lessonhead
The Lesson would rather big up a Wiz Khalifah mixtape because the Lesson thinks that makes one cool and hip
This Iron Fists project is probably the most creative and ambitious hip hop related project this year
It won't get that kinda respect from y'all, though

I specifically waited an extra day until Tuesday to buy Kendrick there since this soundtrack was dropping that day so I could kill two birds with one stone picking up both, of course you get in there & they look at you like you got three heads even asking about this album.
Oh well, grabbed Kendrick then hit a real record store today I guess for this one.
The initial run-thru on spotify sounds phenomenal, this week's releases are putting an exclamation point on what's been one of the better hip-hop years in a minute.

the Kendrick major-label debut though for a plethora of reasons, that's definitely more the 'event album' of the two but both are worth owning.
Gun to my head I like Kendrick's album better but that is no knock at this & in a world where you can cop the pair this week for under twenty bucks grab both.

some old 70s blaxsploitation-era classic soundtracks but updated with Wu flavor (taking a cue from those Chamber Music volumes) & then getting some younger MCs to kill it.
I've only played it thru all the way twice in the car so far (Kendrick has been occupying a lot of that time & I didn't cop it until Wednesday) but this album goes hard.
