I ain't coming for ALL Black Americans (capital Bs) in NYC, just the ones I see getting all emotional on IG making videos talking about "it's a New York thing, my non-black friends call me nigga and it's cool!" Yelling at their smartphone cameras while adjusting they yankees fitted.

Who grew up as Black Americans. *shrugs*
I was weirded out being in Houston hanging out with some Vatos type Mexicans in a bar and they was dropping the n word like crazy when the local black people didn't flinch.

Black people get bullied into accepting negative shit in places like that. Same dynamic like in LA and Miami. Or any majority white city like Seattle, Austin or Denver.
Edit: and after looking at NYC's demographics, it makes a bit more sense why it's even a debate there.

They know exactly what they're doing.
Was in a store when two guys (one rep, one customer) realized each was PR. Customer yells out 'hey my nigga' and goes to dap up rep. Rep stops, looks at me and signals to the other PR guy who also looks my way. I just turned my head.
Nigga may not be a word we should covet, however you never hear us or them throw out any other derogatory word to show fellowship or strengthwithin themsleves. I say at this point just match that damn energy.
One of my Mexican students didn't let it sink in until the Black kids started calling him 'beaner'then he felt some kinda way. Break out the derogatory dictionary and have at it.
