"James Talarico vs Jasmine Crockett"

I don’t like this one bit. I like both of them and wish they weren’t running for the same thing.

Jasmine has been out in front fighting the good fight but Talarico is like a white Obama. The dude is smooth and will surely get white voters that Jasmine could never get.

...but it seems to me that the moment calls for her type of combative energy in the Senate. She has been against the regime and fighting them in the battlefield of ideas for a while. I ain't got nothing against Talarico, but I got something FOR Crockett. We need lionesses in the Senate. I heard somewhere that he should run for Governor and that made sense to me based on his background as a generational Texan.

I think the nationalizing of local races has has a bad track record in Dem races with NY & LA flooding money into local races for people who have no chances of winning. I have no idea who can win in Texas. I like Jasmine Crockett and don't know the other guy at all.

I'll trust the local wisdom of Texan Dem voters to figure who has the best shot of winning.

i think EITHER of them would be fine for the job. i actually think that politically they are nearly the same, they just have a very different approach from one another.

however, i think, based on Texas demographics, that Talarico is more likely to win. remember, this isn't exactly about Talarico vs. Crockett, it's about either of them vs. the Repub candidate and trying to "turn Texas blue."

that said, i think that whoever loses will still be fine politically. like, a primary loss isn't a nail in the coffin like it would be with some other folks.

because Beto had us hyped, but lost. However, he helped down ballot a ton from what I understand. And he worked his ass off.

I do feel like he has a better shot than Crocket. Not sure how you win in TX if the bulk of your brand is being anti-Trump. Trump won TX 3 times!

Not to mention, there's that clip of her calling latinos slaves. If Dems have a chance in hell it will be because Latinos flipped...I don't see them flipping to Crocket like that.

Plus, I read today she has Kamala making robo calls. Uhh...Kamala underperformed Allred. I'm starting to doubt Crocket's political instincts. She seems solely focused on winning the nom, because she is giving the GOP all kinds of ammo for the general.

There's a reason the GOP wants Crocket to win.

that had her up A LOT, i was like "them numbers sound made up."

i mean, someone here said "the Latinos" and maybe it was some of that, but unfortunately for her, Jasmine was making some bad moves publicly in the days/weeks before.

also, democratic votes look to be VERY fed up with Israel (finally), and her ties to AIPAC, etc. were DEFINITELY a negative for her. not saying Talarico isn't pro-Israel - i'm actually not sure...i think he's less so than she is though she may only be because she's bought and it's not her true inner beliefs, but she was giving bad answers when asked about it, etc.

i wonder where she goes from here.

when I saw the polls I was shocked they said she had a double digit lead.

I just didn’t see Texas choosing Crockett over a white dude on his Obama shit. They already bashing this man for not hating gays while being a christian.

The Colbert ban got him over the finish line. Not sure how Crockett did in Texas as fat as campaigning goes but he got a shit ton of free air time with the CBS thing.

i thought it was gerrymandered to be a GOP seat. if that's the case, how did a black Dem pastor (actually Crockett's pastor btw) win it?

did she actually just not decide to run in her district, and chase the Senate seat instead?

nevermind...i found out that, yes, she just decided not to try to retain her own seat, and instead run for Senate.

so yeah, not really gerrymandered out in her case, though there was gerrymandering in Texas.

Green is now running in a different district, the Texas 18th (which is my district), which is the one that Governor Hot Wheels kept open after Sylvester Turner died suddenly. It's been a crazy year and a half for the 18th:

Sheila Jackson Lee: 1/3/1995 - 7/19/2024
Vacant: 7/19/2024 - 11/12/2024
Erica Lee Carter (SLJ's daughter): 11/12/2024 - 1/3/2025
Sylvester Turner: 1/3/2025 - 3/5/2025
Vacant: 3/5/2025 - 2/2/2026
Christian Menefee: 2/2/2026 - Present

This May, Menefee himself is now facing his fourth election for this seat in what will be six months:

(1) Special election to replace Turner in 11/2025
(2) Runoff for special election in 1/2026
(3) Primary in 3/2026
(4) Primary runoff in 5/2026.

Politics is a rough business.

The number of ads and videos on the page makes it hard to copy and paste the article cleanly, but I'm am amazed how quickly fellow Democrats are already throwing shade at her.

she must have ruffled a few feathers among her 'fellow' Democrats and they aren't sad to see her lose that Primary bid.

She just lost the Senate primary bid less than a week and there's already folks willing to have themselves quoted blaming her for the loss.

talarico was already a pretty clear lock, and she threw her hat in that ring late and the kingmakers were like "uh, why you trying to upset the apple cart."

now, it's a free county and you can do what you want, but now that i understand that she didn't HAVE TO give up her district (which is what i thought initially) i can understand people looking at her sideways like just keep your spot cuz you're a great Dem Rep. there's no need to come over here and create drama where there was none.

i'm not judging her one way or the other, but it's understandable to me if the Dem establishment does.

But I think there already being a totally viable Dem option in the Senate race, and then she gives up her office to chase the Senate job? I can see how that could irritate the party.

you think a black woman who shits on Trump any chance she gets is gonna fare better than a smooth talking, white, religious man (Jasmine is a Christian too but he puts that shit to the forefront), IN FUCKING TEXAS?!?!?!?

you gotta remember, this isn't a race in her district only, where she won easily when she did win. this is for the united states senate, a STATEWIDE rice.

now, he might lose to the whoever the Repugs put up, but to think he's gonna lose WORSE than her is crazy talk to me.

I didn't say Crockett would do better, I said Tarico will face worse. I mean his competition will not be friendly. I would say the same if Crockett won.

He will be running against a MAGA nut or Republican incumbent in a red state.

It wasn't that easy when she ran the first time.

They are already starting the culture war machine.

They attack Crockett in this article but they make an interesting point about Tarico in the general.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/2026/03/crockett-talarico-paxton-cornyn-texas/686238/

"Talarico once spoke in opposition to Republican legislation that would prohibit transgender girls from playing in girls’ sports, arguing that there are “many more than two biological sexes.”

I think it's weird to hear people say things like this:

https://x.com/_ParadiseParis1/status/2029235027972669781

Is that a revelation? People don't vote for people they don't like?

Or there are folks like this:

https://x.com/VoiceOfOurAnces/status/2029191941477265738

He is trying to figure out the conspiracy behind people loved her for the house but flipped on her when she ran for Senate. How did people turn on her so fast?

I think it's kind of simple. I think she eas great at being in the lower house where she can battle against folks like MTG but not sure she would do well in the Senate where you got to have a broader base.

IDK. The system I want is that anyone who wants to run runs and the people pick and then the losers get the person picked fairly and brings their supporters along and they all work towards beating the other side.

The system does not work if you lose and then you blame the system and try to burn it all down. Doesn't seem like Crockett is doing that but some of her clown supporters definitely are.

Crockett will be back. She got more sense than most.

during her first term in 2020.

During her tenure, she filed more bills than any other freshman legislator, voted numerous times against efforts to restrict abortion access, and petitioned the Supreme Court of the United States to strike down Texas' six week abortion ban as unconstitutional. Three bills she co-authored became law. These included legislation that wipes certain in-court fees for recently incarcerated persons and criminalizes financial abuse of the elderly. She was a founding member of the Texas Caucus on Climate, Energy, and the Environment, a bipartisan caucus working to reduce pollution and grow the economy in Texas.

I like Talarico by the way and think he has a good shot to win due to being white, christian and born and raised in Texas. Texans love that shit.
