Ran through it a few times this morning and really feeling it. Excited about JJ, but wish it was an album. I’ll check out Benny, Boldy and Alkaholiks as well. Still bumping that Wu from last week. Can’t believe how good it is

He’s got quantity and quality. I probably didn’t think about Lloyd Banks for a solid 10 years, and come the 2020s, here he is putting out a good album every year.

Jericho Jackson is supposed to be putting out an album this year. They’re a can’t miss to me - they’re both just too gifted at what they do, to not make really good music together. I Am Him is a banger. The other two are cool as well, but I keep coming back to I Am Him - ran it probably 15 times today.

I suppose I’ll give Benny a listen. 5 years ago he was arguably my favorite rapper, but he’s been losing me. I wish Daringer and ALC just did all of his albums.

This is so true, especially the part about not even thinking about him for that long. The features and beats he’s getting as of late are so good.

Okay, so I've been trying to put people on to SWAVAY for a few years. His 2022 album, "ALMETHA'S SON", was one of my favorite albums that year. He's from Atlanta, and he's in that vein of J.I.D., Vince Staples, Deante Hitchcock, Nick Grant, etc...this is more of a mixtape but listens like an album (outside of the handful of Trapaholics drops). This is the closest rap project that we've gotten to the energy of GNX, since GNX. SUPER DOPE and worth your time.

To ME? This might be her best album. Truly beautiful music and writing, and her vocal work on here is some of her best ever. Definitely one of the best albums of 2025 for me. Obviously, her being a new mother and her relationship were big inspirations for this album.

>SAILORR - FROM FLORIDA'S FINEST

i gotta apologize to SAILORR. when i heard "Pookie's Requiem" i was like, "oh, she's SZA but Asian" and i kinda wrote her off. that was a mistake. this project is really fucking good. her writing is DOPE. "UR MOTHER'S SON" is one of my favorite written song this year. she's more like if SZA and Doja Cat were in one body.

>Men I Trust - Equus Caballus

So, about 3 or 4 weeks ago, Men I Trust put out another album, Equus Asinus. They are a pair that were made in advance of their tour, but each stands on it's own. While I thought Equus Asinus was good in the sense that it was artistically daring, it was not the sound I was expecting. Well, Equus Caballus fixed that for me. One of my favorite albums of 2025 for sure. This is the Men I Trust that I expected. Way more upbeat, with a foot in the more funky or R&B tinged parts of Men I Trust. Love this.

Solid indie rock. Not outstanding in any way to me, but definitely not bad.

>Cuco - Ridin'

Really like this album. I found Cuco when Spotify threw his "My 45" into my release algorithm. He takes a very interesting approach to the retro, 60's soul sound. He looks like a Mexican gang banger (and perhaps he actually is) but he's crooning with a tinge of that street culture in the writing.

>Lefty Gunplay & Jason Martin - Can't Get Right

speaking of Latino gang bangers...man, i really like Lefty and want him to win, and my home co-produced the title track...but he's just not lyrical enough or got a strong enough flow to carry a whole album in my opinion. that said, this is solid, but not as good as i wanted it to be based on how much i want him to win.

>Pink Pantheress - Fancy That

I do need to give this another shot, but she's falling into Ice Spice territory for me...where it's the same trick too many times. I was pretty disappointed tbh.

>Arcade Fire - Pink Elephant

I didn't know what to make of this. This is how I feel with a lot of rock music at times. Like, I can tell it's well made and generally "good" but there's nothing that connects me with the music. It could just be an Arcade Fire thing though cuz I've tried a couple of their albums that are considered CLASSIC and they did nothing for me.

>Erika de Casier - Lifetime

Love this album. VERY dope chill music...R&B ish. I think Pitchfork summed it up better than I could: The Danish singer shifts her gaze to ’90s classics from Janet, Madonna, and Sade on her self-produced new LP, channeling trip-hop and R&B in aqueous synths and boom-bap drums.

>Nippa - Hope She Hears This

Really strong male R&B EP. Good vocals and production, with some bright moments in the writing too. Worth checking out if you like R&B, and I'm curious to see where he can take his career.

>Galdive - Blue

Very similar to the Erika de Casier album in sound. Again, great chillout music with female vocals. Really like this project and I love finding a random indie artist whose shit is good.

The Mike / Seltzer joint is pretty fresh I was not expecting a trillish ode to SCE for the first track (RIP)
