Looking for an app that allows receiving and making calls, texting from a contact list only. Is there such an app? -for an android phone.

GOt rid of all superfluous apps and incons and used short cuts for phone numbers so that he could just press an icon which was a picture of me to call me.

TBH, it really didn't work but thought to share.

I also considered a Meta Portal which I thought would be real easy for him to use but didn't do before he passed away.

Android has one built in called Family Link but it's really for dealing with kids.

You'll also see other apps out there to let companies control their employees' phones.

I haven't seen anything for dealing with the elderly but maybe this will point you in the right direction.

but he absolutely hated it....Ultimately it was more of a solution for me than him honestly...

I didn't realize it at the time, but his phone was like the last thing his brain was capable of navigating with little to no assistance from another human... Not on some he was hooked on screens, just that he knew the screen layout by feel, and knew how to use the Android voice control, had his ringers setup so he knew who was calling by the ringtone. He had his playlists all stored....

I say stick with android and just delete all non-essential apps and contacts
