"Captain America this weekend, early sales predict a flop, you going?"

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YWoQKQINwFk

went to check for tickets and was shocked to see so many open seats across various theaters

i had seen rumblings about pre-ticket sales being low and concerns over the amount of reshoots, but i hardly ever get into that sort of thing

i must say, for a new Marvel movie this doesnt look good

I understand that it’s also Presidents Day weekend but there’s a chunk of the four quadrants that just can’t and shouldn’t try to make this weekend work for an action flick.

Yeah idk, bringing back references from one of the worst reviewed, lowest grossing MCU movies ain't gonna help let alone having to see a TV show season that a lot of people probably skipped as well.

I'm guessing they are really hoping Fantastic Four reboot gets them back on track and the next couple are for the die hards

I was interested in seeing how they reconcile the body that's been like briefly mentioned 1 time since the movie. Just like it bugs me that we haven't gotten the Nova story yet that should probably go back and tell how Thanos took the power stone from Nova corps. Those things just bug me lol.

I don't see how this one will be different. This and Thunderbolts I don't expect to be great. Maybe they step it up with Fantastic 4 but wouldn't be surprised if that continues the midness as well.

I might go see this one with my brother but not really excited for it.

Like, it sorta feels like they realize the aura of invincibility is gone from them, people won't simply show up for the next movie just because it exists, too many of them recently have been mid, etc... so they've said "fuck it, we're pushing our chips forward to Fantastic Four and RDJ's return, nothing else matters."

So it feels like both this and Thunderbolts aren't exactly getting a Must See Cinema type of marketing push. They feel like extended TV episodes, things we can wait to see on streaming. Will I see it in theaters? Sure, because I'm a nerd who grew up on Marvel. But I can't avert my eyes to the decline in quality that's come in the wake of their overwhelming success.

More Christmas movies coming in 2025...

Im rewatching The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and forgot a lot of it, this movie should have came out right after. I do think tying the shows with the movies oversaturated things but also killing off most the original Avengers probably hurt them the most. Still some good stories tho and I will continue checking them out.

as part of Phase Flop or whatever, and Marvel is now hiding them in off-peak season because the cost is sunk and they need to make room on the content hamster wheel. I've seen four different trailers and they all look terrible.

... it's also clear they significantly neutered the substance of the movie. Presumably out of fear of the political climate.

It's the most obviously reshot MCU movie to date-- endless complicated character and/or plot transitions covered with an off-camera line of dialogue, and a couple of Madame Web-esque scenes that, if they weren't reshot, should disqualify the cinematographer from working again. Would love to read the original shooting script to see what these filmmakers actually intended.

I like how they hid the true villain in the trailers tho we kinda knew who it would be based on credits. Honestly it might be an unpopular opinion but I enjoyed it more than I did any MCU movie since Spiderman No Way Home.

I'm a sucker for a good espionage spy flick. This had enough for my wife and I to sink our teeth into. Solid grade of B. Also, I enjoyed the older black man to younger black man dynamic.
