"OKHomeowners: Canceling Escrow"

Have any of you canceled escrow and just paid the taxes and insurance yourself?

I’m in the process of doing it. Tired of my escrow being short or them thugging up my insurance payment.

Figure I can do it myself for these last 5 years.

was doing it myself at first. it eventually became a hassle. didn't like having to keep up with the tax due dates. it also didn't save me any money by doing it myself. just more overhead.

it ended up being easier to just let the mortgage company handle it.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme

i considered it once but decided 2 less bills to worry about was worth it.

that said, mine fluctuated. sometimes it worked in my favor and i got a check when we paid too much, sometimes i got a bill.

but it was never more than a few hundred owed when it was short so i didnt mind.

i always lean towards automatic payments on anything that i can lose if something happens.

i thiiiink you can opt to pay more just in case? but i cant remember.

you could always setup an allotment in an additional account on your own just in case it happens again.

$125 per pay period for 12 mos will get you $3,000

then if you end up not needing it, you can spend it or just let it be until you do need it

but yeah, an unexpected $2,700 bill is not fun
