I saw it pushed on tiktok with some glutinous white guy yelling about how Nat Turner’s body was eaten by white folks.
According to chat, the book examines ‘the literal and figurative cannibalization of Black bodies during slavery in the United States. Published in 2014, the book explores the intersections of race, sexuality, consumption, and power dynamics in American history.’
This doesn’t surprise me however what does is that the author Vincent Woodard (black man known for writing religious relationship books) passed in 2008. However the guys that put out the delectable negro are two white college professors, one in African American studies.
How tf does this type of sh!t keep happening? Why are white people still being allowed to teach AfAm studies? Why are we still hawking over our family goods to those that have rarely done us mildly good only to have them distort them and profit for decades if not centuries?
2. "who was supposed to put out this book and why didn't they?" In response to Reply # 0
Did the Author's family come out and say that Woodward didn't want his work to be published or that they haven't received the proceeds from sales of this book?
Did the White editors add an additional chapter with serving suggestions and recipes for cooking Black people?!
I guess I'm trying to figure out why I'm supposed to be mad here

Well, I have no idea what the family has or hasnt agreed to, however the deceased authors’ website is active with his relationship faith based books along w/pics of him and his wife. No mention of TDN. From that I gather that his widow/family or publishers are still maintaining his site. Why they wouldnt include TDN, which imo would garner more attention, no clue.
Two white guys having the ownership/creative rights etc with a Black man’s work concerning race/racism brings to mind the continued appropriation white folks swaddle themselves in.
