SZA is celebrating the two-year anniversary of her groundbreaking album SOS with an exciting teaser for its deluxe edition. The Grammy-winner shared a cryptic trailer on social media, leaving fans anticipating a new drop.
The video, posted Mon. (Dec. 9), shows SZA crouching by a stream in the woods to pee, before text appears reading “Lana” above “SOS Deluxe.” The clip, soundtracked by an unreleased track sampling the Isley Brothers’ classic “Voyage to Atlantis,” is captioned: “Clock starts now. Happy anniversary.”
Fans have since dissected every detail of the teaser. Some have noted that SZA’s shirt features the number five, while others think a dark patch of dirt in the clip makes out the same number. Many are speculating that this could point to a Friday (Dec.13) release date, but nothing official has been confirmed.
Adding to the intrigue, it remains unclear if Lana—a project SZA has previously described as a separate release—has now been announced as thee SOS Deluxe. In a recent interview with British Vogue, SZA described Lana as a “welcome shift,” explaining how her creative process has evolved.
“I think I am making music from a more beautiful place. From a more possible place versus a more angsty place,” she explained to the outlet. “I’m not identifying with my brokenness. It’s not my identity. It’s sh*t that happened to me. Yeah, I experienced cruelty. I have to put it down at some point. Piece by piece, my music is shifting because of that, the lighter I get.”
Fans have even more to look forward to as SZA is also joining Kendrick Lamar for his upcoming Grand National tour. The co-headlining 21-date trek kicks off in Minnesota on April 19 and will hit major cities including Houston, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Toronto before wrapping in D.C. on June 18.
With the possible SOS Deluxe on the horizon and the Grand National tour in the works, SZA is making sure her fans are thirsty for more as she gears up for the New Year.

SZA Announces ‘Lana’ Album Release Date With Ben Stiller Video Cameo The music news comes after dropping the outdoorsy album trailer last week.

Speculations are finally being met with confirmation, as SZA has officially announced the release date for Lana—her third studio album serving as the SOS Deluxe. The long-awaited project is set to drop this Friday (Dec. 20), as assumed in a trailer she shared last week.
To boost the anticipation even more, SZA has released another teaser for a single presumed to be titled “Drive.” The clip refreshingly stars Ben Stiller, who channels his inner SZA superfan by dramatically lip-syncing the song while driving on a rainy night.
It seems that the vibe of the teaser follows the “outdoorsy” theme of the album trailer, which showed SZA crouching by a stream in the woods to pee. The clip is soundtracked by a sampling of the Isley Brothers’ classic “Voyage to Atlantis,” with the caption, “Clock starts now. Happy anniversary.”
Her prior album, SOS, held the No. 1 spot for 10 weeks, making it the first R&B album by a woman to hit double digits since Mariah Carey’s self-titled debut in 1991. With Lana now confirmed, fans are ready to dive deeper into the masterpiece that already delivered “Kill Bill,” “Snooze” and others.
In a recent interview with British Vogue, SZA described Lana as a “welcome shift,” explaining how her creative process has evolved.

SZA is jokingly bugged out. The singer has taken her bug costume from her Hot Ones episode to a whole new level as she unveiled the cover to Lana (SOS Deluxe).
On the cover to the highly-anticipated extended edition of her Grammy-winning album, she’s topless using metallic body paint as her armor with oversized cargo pants and an open jacket to match.
Fans and friends alike can’t get enough of the abstract albeit cryptic cover art.
Artist Shefon Taylor commented, “This day needs to hurry up and end —I’m ready.” Singer Mahalia added, “I will never not be OBSESSED with (you).”
“Wide eyed and bushy tailed!” singer Adanna Duru teased. Doechii replied, “You’re crazzzyyyyy.” Producer Charity Croff joked, “Bro you pulling up to the colony like Hopper to collect the grain seeds… and WE AINT GOT EM SZA!!!!!!” Someone else praised SZA, writing, “Nah you really have the most flawless run of album covers.”
Earlier this week, she finally announced that Lana was coming out on Friday (Dec. 20) using a visual of Ben Stiller in Severance singing along to “Drive” as the official promo.

In regard to the now iconic disguise of hers, SZA shared on Hot Ones that she’s “tired of not being a bug.”
Explaining, “I have a harder time enjoying anything if I don’t suffer for it, which is why I have this mask on This one brings me so much peace of mind in the realm of like being a person is so daunting. As is being in your own skin and the whole shebang. For no other reason other than I’m just tired of being not a bug. It’s like, what the f**k. Wouldn’t you want to be a bug if you could be anything else?”
