Today is the 27th Anniversary of Jay Z's In My Lifetime Vol. 1.
I just DM'd Daven Vanderpool on IG, the producer of "Imaginary Players" and asked him if he added that swirling synth over the Rene & Angela sample in the hook.
I asked cuz I was listening to it, and without that synth it's a dope beat, but with it? It's a total earworm to me, and I've triple checked and I can't find it in the original sample anywhere.
I hope he did cuz I love when musicians add, in my opinion, genius touches like that.
Back in '06 in a thread in The Lesson, there was a discussion about Thom Yorke's solo LP, The Eraser. He asked if anyone had a link to it and I PMed an Albumbase or yousendit link. I got a 'Thanks Fam'. I was hyped!

Of course I can't reach big big names or get a response from but you'dbe surprised how often very visible people get back to me.
In fact, I am often shocked when bigger names take the time to respond (even if it's a no) whereas so many smaller names who I think are gettable don't bother to even respond. It kinda points to why some folks are successful and others not so much.
I think you are doing it right, though, with the right level of fame and coming at them with very specific questions (and folks love to talk about how creative and genius they are).

they were debating something NFL related. Dan Orlovsky had it right and he hit the cleanest Griddy, lol. I tweeted at him and he replied with something like, "you know it!". I'd have to look back. This was last season or the season before. From the same show, different episode...Kimberly Martin made an Office reference and I tweeted that I got it and she replied with a Michael Scott "exactly!" gif.
