"These companies dont give a fuck about you"

they fired my homie at the end of the day. Not the beginning of the day, the end of the day.

he said bye and I said “see you tomorrow” and the way he walked off felt wrong and that’s when I realized what happened.

new investors said things wouldn’t change.. but they are changing.

Time to update the resume.

the hard way that HR, who, regardless of company, try to make it seem like they are a resource for employees, is actually only there to protect the company.

ever since that lesson, i've never looked at any job as more than just that: a job.

thats why i'm the only one in my department and i'm expected to do the work of 2-3 people while getting paid below the median average salary.

what they don't know is i fuck off most of the day, answering emails from bed and napping most of the time.

Edit: how about getting bought out, the previous owner "negotiated" a retention bonus that fucking sucked dick and didn't come out of his pocket. Then getting "absorbed" into the parent companies IT department and no longer being eligible for the bonus the business unit I manage by myself.

just the fact that we have bonuses now is a slap in the face. old owner would give us raises maybe every 2 years lol. this company of 100 people pulled in 40-50 million a year.

some folks are moving. others are keeping their homes and commuting to the new city, getting apartments, or hotels in cities where they're being asked to move. then you have some who are just retiring because of this.

I've heard a couple of stories of extreme circumstances. apparently someone is flying from say Cali to Atlanta to meet their requited time in office. another one has a camper in the office parking lot.

the kicker is even if you uproot your fam or do whatever version of commuting, you still might get laid off if the numbers don't work out well for the company.

find a new job.

but, that kind of think is starting to spread.

Amazon just demanded their employees come back to the office 5 days a week.

even at my little job (we're a small-ish, local company), starting in November they are asking people to come back to the office 3 days a week. ever since COVID, me and my boss were the only ones who came to the office everyday (cuz I don't like to work at home - no space and i get too distracted) but almost EVERYONE else went to working from home just about 100 percent (a few people would come in one or 2 days during the week).

these aren't the same things as what you described, obviously, but employers are starting to demand more.

Coworker told me that he had to go to the ER the other week. Was on travel. Woke up in pain. Had to have a kidney stone removed. Spent six hours in the ER. Only took a half day the next day to catch up on sleep. Like … my man. Get on a plane and GO HOME TO YOUR FAMILY.

elsewhere, but a lot of these folks have worked here 20 years or more. they're trying to ride it out until they hit the retirement numbers.

good luck to them, but I'll be prepping my resume and getting some additional education soon.

along with that, I keep hearing the job market it shit.

we've been doing 3 days a week for a while now. rumor is that 5 days may be headed out way.

all of these moves are to help shrink the org. from a reputation standpoint, it's looks better to say folks left on their own because they didn't want to return to office or move than to just do layoffs en masse.

they'll give you like a week to decide if you want to stay and risk getting laid off w/ nothing, or leave and get 6 weeks of pay/benefits/coverage. that happened at a company a friend of mine works at.

at my last gig. Gave them the whole day to find my replacement.

another coworker had the pleasure of handing his resignation to the bosses wife who was chewing him out after he complained about his marriage crumbling because they kept forcing him to work late. The women in the office actually chewed him out for leaving at 7PM before the bosses wife left. She read that shit, and said “gotdammit” and walked off

but I would never give 2 weeks notice to a company like that because they usually tell you to leave immediately.

They not gonna give us any warning or let us stick around knowing the damage we could do the the company if we were to get vengeful.

Some of the times I gave two weeks they were still like we'll pay you, but you can't be here with access to all our info.

30. "eh, that's what severance is for"
In response to Reply # 24

and it's typically longer than 2 weeks. 3 companies I've been with since 2020 have all had a layoff when I've been employed. severance for those layoffs were 8 weeks, 4 weeks and 16 weeks. so sure, you get no "notice" you're being let go but you are still getting paid for some time while you figure out your next move.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

33. "hurricane coming and remote workers in Kansas City"
In response to Reply # 0

were telling us they were monitoring the storm and would let us know if we could work from home on Friday.

Its crazy to me that full time REMOTE workers are telling us if we can work from home or not.

Like, how the FUCK are you sitting in your kitchen saying “nah, you have to work in the office”

Whole office is HOT. The prior owner lived in Charlotte and wanted us to work in the office because he foolishly expanded the office AFTER the pandemic because he didn’t want to accept the new normal.

But now? The new CEO is remote and half the company works remote, but Charlotte employees have to come into the office so we can have team meetings with remote workers.

This is not going to end well. Dude was on a meeting on one screen and job searching on the other.. on the company server. Bold as hell.

some companies really make shit hard for no reasons that are valid. treating people like toddlers is wild.

we have to do 3 days in the office. emailed my manager and said that 3rd day will likely not happen this week. he said cool. be safe. shit should be that easy.

Someone trek in and get fired without even having a full day of pay

You basically washed your ass and commuted to be told to go home

It is sooo triggering for me!

I remember in January 2015 - the 16th to be exact- when my black female boss told me "you're not going anywhere in this organization ... nobody likes you."

I started my new job on February 23, 2015.

That shit was so scarring that I remember the exact dates and words and everything. I remember what that b*tch was wearing when she said that shit to me!!

I was determined to get out of there!! I remember applying for a new job at 3 am and shit. When I quit she asked me "What are you going to do now? Are you moving back in with your mom??" in a tone like she felt sorry for me. She also was genuinely pissed that I quit.

How do you tell someone something like that and NOT expect them to quit!?!

I tell you what ...

its YOUR fault and that its a mindset.

not that everyone around you is retarded in the classical sense. not that management sends us on wild goose chases to make it look like they are doing something to the CEO. none of that, its just our fault, the people doing all the work.

Toxic Positivity is real.

He had his blind spots but overall he was a good dude.

He added a bunch of Black folk to the tech side and our company was popping and then he got sick and it all fell apart.

He sold the company and the new investors have no idea wtf they are doing and fired a bunch of us..

fuck cancer.
