This was still during the 'glad to see a Black people show' era.
Funny enough, people around my parents' age (6x year olds) are quick to have jokes on that show when you ask about it NOW. But at the time? Shiiiiiid. And those reruns were all up on the scene during the 80s. I watched it like it was a new show.

Public Enemy is the Good Times of rap music
Strong Black messages but a little bit of Flava Flav for comic relief. However, imagine the white folks at the label demanding more songs by Flava on those albums. Nah bruh

It's not carrying the same... anything as Good Times. Aside from naming the characters Evans and throwing in small references here and there... why does the hell is this Good Times? It's not even like Good Times carries much weight with who I think they're trying to reach demographically... just an odd choice of an IP to try to piggy back on

anyone who tries to make an excuse for it existing should be side-eyed on any "black" tv shows/films or music they like. And the fact folks like Yvette Nicole Brown co-signed to this minstrel bullshit is disappointing.

but then I saw the trailer and decided I was good, regardless of whatever music was in it I had no desire to watch it. No even remotely Good Times related.
