"November/December Concerts" Wed Nov-15-23 02:08 PM by dagu
Who have you seen already in November? Who are you going to see before the year is out?
I'm wrapping up a busy run right now of five concerts in nine days (including three nights in a row):
11/9: Men I Trust 11/12: Mass of the Fermenting Dregs 11/13: Faye Webster 11/14: Brittany Howard (was incredible) 11/18: The National
Then next month there is a two day festival (or something) that I'll be going to called Spirit of Orgain. The lineup:
12/8: Chris Dave and the Drumheadz, DJ Kay Cali, Sir Woman, Hiatus Kaiyote, Thundercat 12/9: Eimaral Sol, Nai Palm, BLK ODYSSY, Pete Rock, GZA, Masego, Erykah Badu
The 12/9 date conflicts with Black Pumas, which I also have tickets to, but they have a second show on 12/10 that I might see instead. Not sure if I can do three days in a row again though, especially with the Spirit of Orgain dates probably being half a day each.

I went to Setlist.fm and maybe I was wrong - I've really only seen them 30-40 times , probably more toward the 30.
I sold t-shirts for Vision Street Wear/Devo on a tour in 1988 for 10 shows. And then I was able to get in to concerts for free after that for a few years - so I racked up another 10 in those next few years.
Then for the last 30 years I've seen them almost every time they've come through San Diego, and sometimes up in LA.
It's the same reason I've seen The Roots so many times too - they've been around a long time and I can *sometimes* get in for free. (It's never about the money when I get in for free - I'd have paid every time without hesitation.
I've seen The Roots so much I don't know if I'd be able to give nearly an accurate count --but 40 is probably on the low end of the actual number.
Lauryn Hill & The Fugees @ The Forum in LA. It was alright. Fun to see Lauryn. Fugees were good. Got Nas, Lil Wayne, and B-Real appearances - so that was cool too. I'm good on Lauryn live though.
Grammy Salute to Hip Hop's 50th @ Youtube Theater LA. Way fun. Wrote up a review but it was dozens of legends and just a fun time all around.
Not a concert, but next Friday I'm going to one of my fav events I do every year...Flavors at the Echoplex in LA. It's J Rocc and DJ Spinna with 90s hip hop, R&B, house, etc. all night. It's always so fun.
Was able to see a lot of great hip hop shows this year - Souls of Mischief, Run the Jewels, Lauryn, the FORCE tour (was so dope), and the Grammy thing. Also got to see Incubus, Tears for Fears, Head Automatica, and probably others I'm forgetting. Was supposed to see the Snoop/Dre Doggystyle thing at the Bowl, but it got cancelled. Ah well. Good year for shows though.
