I would be shocked if you get <5.

Also not clear which Richmond.

If we talking richmond, VA, I haven't been in 20 years until I went this summer and was shocked at the development. It's a cool city. I am expecting it to blow up in the next 10 as people get priced out of DC.

Also...
C'mon.....Richmond is the default for Richmond, VA....only time it'd be necessary to specify is if I was NOT talking about Richmond, VA....
I don't even know where any other Richmonds are....

cant go wrong with Ipanema.

Richmond is a foodie paradise.

Check Jackson Ward, the Fan, Cary Town and Shockoe Bottom for the best food in each area.

On Saturday.

Couldn’t get a reservation at Lillie Pearl.

Croakers Spot was in the opposite direction of home for lunch on Saturday.

I placed 83 out of 400+ runners and 3rd place in my age bracket. Ended up running the 16.19k in 1:30 min. for a 9.01 minute mile…. Slower than I wanted to be but faster than I expected after them downtown hills got the best of me.

Congrats on the run. My son goes to VCU, so we have ended up at buttermilk honey after getting turned away at Lillie pearl. Mama j's is the only place I remember the name of though, but we have had everything from cafeteria style African, great brunch food, Mofongo, real Mexican food, just watch out for spots that you'll need a reservation for.

May have to keep an eye out for next year. How was the course as far as inclines and declines? We've walked a bit between vcu to shockoe bottom, down to brown's Island and up as far as broad, and I can remember my wife hating the hills.

It really messed up my times…
My splits for the first 7 miles were between 8:15- 8:34…with just a few gentle inclines and a few flights of stairs to cross a footbridge over a ravine…
Then the hills downtown came…..my pace took a massive hit. I had to walk one of them joints lol. The last 1/2 miles is downhill though, so that was good.

I hope they keep doing this one, it’s a good course and good location and perfect length for me.

I like the tie with the year. that's fly.

I'm not a 'real' runner. my longest is the annual Peachtree and it's a 10k.

what kind of shoes do you run in? do you prep and do the race in the same shoes?

I got short run shoes, long run shoes, go fast shoes, go easy shoes and race day shoes
I got a problem lol…
I ran Adidas Adios Pro 2’s for race day and trained with them for my long runs over 7 miles.
For runs under 7 miles I run in Adidas Boston 11’s and Nike Zoomfly 5’s
For speed runs I run in Adidas Adios 7’s and Nike Streakflys(but I hate these).
When I’m feeling froggy I break out an old pair of Nike Vaporfly 4% that I can’t bear to part with.

If you run, you’re a real runner.
I only do 1-2 races a year and really it’s just to keep me motivated to get out and run.

I try to buy 2 pair each year. this year, I got some trail shoes, adidas 240 terrex.

rarely am I off road but these shoes have been great! light weight, wide toe box, not too clunky with the cushioning. I hope they keep making them.

adidas changed up my favorites, Boston, and made them chunky. not a fan.

ran a 5k on Saturday. did 27 mins and change. not my best, but not my worst either. it's called The Race. https://www.theraceuc.com. they have a half marathon, but I'll likely never run that.

you're right about real runner. in my head, I make a difference in those that do races regularly and hobbyist like me, but it's the same.

I hadn't been in years and I went this summer and just thought it was soo cool. Like I could retire here.

I feel like as more people get priced out of DC/Northern VA, Richmond is the next natural stop.

even when it was grimy in the late 90’s.

The Fan, Shockoe Bottom and Cary Town have always been the shit.

Those old row homes with 15 ft ceilings and cheap ass rent.

Beach 1.5 hours away
DC 1.5 hours away
Charlottesville and mountains 1 hour away

Only problem is it wont be affordable much longer as more people migrate from DC and Nova
