3. "Isn't Portugal one of the OGs of the Atlantic slave trade?" In response to Reply # 0
Like, didn't they help create and build that 'industry?'
""" From the 15th to the 19th century, Portuguese vessels carried close to 6 million enslaved Africans across the Atlantic, more than any other nation, but up to now Portugal has rarely commented on its past actions and little is taught about its role in the slave trade in schools. """

They learned from the Arabians( specifically the Ottoman Empire). They brought in the first African salves in 1444, and:
“The first 130 years the Portuguese dominated the transatlantic slave trade. After 1651 they fell into second position behind the British who became the primary carriers of Africans to the New World, a position they continued to maintain until the end of the trade in the early 19th century.”
Portugal, England, Spain and France all need to pay reparations to pan-Africans ( indigenous and diasporas of African ancestry).
