Man, it makes me sad as hell that they don’t make these kinds of movies anymore The choreography, the styles, the makeup and costumes were just so creative and organic, and then you add the theme music and NATURAL film editing ( no cgi or people flying around through trees..lol), and you get classics upon classics.
I watched Mystery of Chess Boxing last night, the move that Wu Tang created it’s entire hip-hop identity from. I can only imagine the amount of hours day in and night out it took to perfect those fighting sequences.

Shaw Brothers made some of the best movies. Look up anything by them.
My favorites:
Seven Steps of Kung Fu Mystery of Chess Boxing - the REAL ghostface killer Five Deadly Venoms - you should know that one Shaolin Drunken Monkey - wu tang collection 36th chamber of Shaolin

"Fist of Legend" starring "Jet Li" is my favorite non-comedic one from the 1990s. Watch the ORIGINAL with the ORIGINAL MUSIC - not a dubbed version with replaced music. So Miramix version is a NO! The Mandorian dub is "okay" but not the original.
Looked it up: The film holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Don't watch a trailer, just jump in on it.
"Dragon's Forever" with Jackie , Sammo, and Corey is my favorite kung-fu court-room buddy comedy (3 buddies) of all time. The Hong Kong release is the definitive version.

Five Deadly Venoms may be the most well-known and best regarding of the Shaw Bros. flicks, but I think I like this one the best. A bunch of the Venoms are in it (playing different roles of course) but the action is still awesome. And Agent Hai Tou is one of the GOATs.
Buddhist Fist has a really enjoyable story and great action.

I remember watching a movie with the typical 'dead brother' motivation, but the bad guy was this warlord that collected crickets in these white porcelain pots. Now at the typical 'showdown before the showdown' the alive brother confronts him and kills a bunch of his crickets on the way out. At the end he of course defeats this guy by blocking a strike and caving in his throat, then the guy dies and falls to the ground while he's in his fight pose. Once the bad guy hits the ground he breaks stance and walks off into the sunset.
I've been looking for this movie forever but I can't remember the name of it for anything.
