All Face had to do was say something about it before it happened. At least Willie D would've known what was up. Doubtful that would've had any impact on the line up.

The Grammy's likely asked for the biggest names, and Scarface, the biggest name in the Geto Boys and Houston hip-hop in general, performed his first verse from the biggest song he was associated with. Which he didn't know he was going to perform until he got there.
I love Willie D, but I don't know what he expected Scarface was supposed to do.

And isn't there about to be another one of these mega performances later this year too? Clearly, WD/Questlove/Face/whoever can play off of this, have some fun with it, and get back to the point of these performances: appreciating hiphop history and not Twitterizing every damn thing into some kind of 'this or that' POLARIZING debate. I understood him being upset that he wasn't invited, especially with Scarface not telling him anything. The more you hear him talk the clearer it is that his real problem is that he didn't get to be on the stage. Being asked was not enough. I get that but oh well. Both Maseo and Dave were celebrating Pos representing De La. I'm sure they both wanted to be there but they were happy that the group was represented.
I don't know how all of Wu felt but I'm sure some were mad and some were happy that Meth represented. I doubt they all were aware he was asked to perform. Either way they aren't making spectacle of it.
I do think face is being a bit insincere in saying he didn't know they wanted him there to represent Geto Boys. He may have not know he was going to do a Geto Boys songs but I'd be surprised if he didn't think there was a good chance. I don't know why he decided to not let Willie D know but based on the videos I get a feeling that he already knew there was no winning there. Willie D even said he didn't want face to do it if they weren't going to let him go too.
So I get why he's mad but he's doing too much. I watched 3 of the videos though so yay.

It would appear as though he isn't for pretenses or perfunctory performances. If you can't put differences aside long enough to honor and pay respects to someone you made history with, would you really be willing to stand on stage for appearances while Face did 8 bars?
