leaving out of Orlando, this time. Caribbean joint on one of Carnival's damn near brand new ships. I'm pretty excited about that. Got a 4 day weekend trip planned next month...wife and I visiting the Uncle Nearest distillery in Shelbyville then heading to Memphis to meet up with my sister for a Grizz/Mavericks game. Lastly...myself, moms, two of my sisters and all our kids are doing a big ass cabin in Gatlinburg, TN on Labor Day weekend. That's it, trip-wise for '23.

or tell me about your experience with them. I got a random recommendation for a Youtube video where a guy was talking about going on a cheap cruise. I have never been interested in them or looked them up. It actually seemed somewhat appealing but I'm not sold yet. Funny that they are doing the Rock the Bells Cruise later this year. I don't know if I want that to be my first.

she's been on ones with the kids and her family and ones with girlfriends. This one coming up with be my 4th, her 11th (or 12th) and my sons' 7th.

First one was out of New Orleans (they have to be in driving distance, cuz I don't fly). Five day cruise. It was fun because a BUNCH of us went...like 25 of us (friends, wives, kids). Hanging out, running into folks around the ship, playing cards, eating...it was cool. The ship was trash. My wife even said she didn't want my first cruise to be that ship, but time of year/lenght of cruise/port of departure, made it necessary. That ship actually is no longer in the fleet.

Next one was on the Vista, out of Galveston. This was a 7 day. A couple of the stops were the same, but the experience was even better due to the ship being cooler.

This past December was an 8 day out of Galveston, on the Dream. Slight upgrade of the ship, plus this one was Caribbean instead of Mexico. For me, it's just the relaxation. You don't have to be anywhere at any specific time unless you want to be. I did cardio first thing every morning, went to breakfast, took naps in the middle of the day. If you get to a port and you don't wanna get off the ship...just chill. You decide beforehand if you wanna do excursions or not. The first year we didn't do any. The second time around we did cave tubing. This past one, we did snorkeling and my wife and son did parasailing.

This one coming up is a 7 day out of Orlando on the Mardi Gras. My wife and I have been geeking over this ship. We probably watched 6 Youtube videos with tours of it. This ship is CRAZY...it blows the previous three out of the water (pun intended). We're gonna chill for '24 and then in '25 try out a different cruise line.

told the kids we were going in 2024 and when she saw a commercial for a cruise ship and the size of it she was hype. So hype she got mad it wasn’t this year.

Pigeon Ford is close so we may do that for a weekend trip

Savannah and New Orleans are being floated as well.

My extended family is planning a reunion in Outerbanks

Also may try to get out to Cali this year for a few days.

But I need to start carving out PTO to make sure we stick to the plan

it's basically a water park in TN. it was close enough to hit Gatlinburg in the same trip.

dollywood is also near, though we never went.

I'm also trying to plan a trip for our anniversary in March. these damn schedules are a mess to work around.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme

I'm on edge, I need to chill lol

We have been busy this year. I think the bulk of it is out of the way but I'm sure we will get a lot more pop up.

They rushed us to finish our own eval by early December so that the boss could go over it with us before Dec was up. Jan is basically up and still waiting to meet with him lol. I think this next check we are getting retroactive pay for whatever increase we get going back to the start of the year.

I did get a good size gift card to nice a steak house from one of our vendors. Feels silly to go alone for lunch but might just do that.

I just come here for the food and sports on the TV.

I mean, I do like how she is fast with the food and check but she aint cute, sexy or my type.

I'm still not eating in restaurants. I've done it randomly but there are several things keeping me from it. Might start doing it on Fridays.

Mostly what I expected. They're getting stricter on them so I only got "meets" expectations overall but still same percent increase so yeah. Only real knock was punctuality which yeah I've been slacking in. I get into the building 2/3 minutes late more often that not with some rare cases under 10. He wants me at my desk early, not in the building late.

Gotta see what I can do about that.

He did put a comment in about punctuality after lunch breaks too but then took it back verbally. At first he said one of his birds mentioned it. I challenged him on that and he brought up who but said maybe they were wrong and forget about it, the morning is his worry lol I mostly let it go but it stuck with me and this morning it came right back. I was considering confronting them but thankfully that passed by the time I got to work.

I don't always go right into my office when I come back from lunch as I sometimes need to get stuff done in other places. I also sometimes get stuff done out of my office before I go to lunch. So there's no way they actually know that and I'm sure that's why they have thought I'm taking longer lunches. That's what I was thinking of pointing out to them today but I could tell I didn't have the right attitude for it. I might make a mention of it at some point but in chill way lol

Overall one of the smoothest evaluations here and for the first time some actual objectives I can work with.
