its the first Thanksgiving without her husband.
She asked me if I wanted to order food this year instead of cooking. (I do the cooking)
I was like sure.. then she says, it may not be traditional so I said.. nah, I’m cooking
Thanksgiving is one of my fav holidays. I always hear about people switching to pizza or lasagna..
bump that. I have turkey like 2 times a year. I have Pizza a few times a month (pizza fridays)
but I’m not doing sides from scratch. Fuck that.. takes too long. A few of these will be out the can/box/etc.. lol.

2. "looking like a busy holiday week" In response to Reply # 0
all the jobs the boss kept threatening were coming finally hit. all at the same time. some of them require new processes and of course unrealistic time lines. working through wednesday.
we did get some good news, they had previously confirmed that we would get our bonus and merit increases on time. now they pushed them up to mid january and february.
getting together with the brothers to watch the game and eat turkey. i usually take drinks/desserts. might see if there is something i can whip up.

still a ton of learning and I'm willing to do it. but also realize the pace and workload get in the way of family. I'm not with that at all.
I'll pay my dues since this is my first real step into the space but definitely need to keep my eyes open for a different role. hopefully still with the company, but we'll see.
did some weekend work recently. manager told me to take an extra day off somewhere. he's a good dude.
on another note, I helped someone get my old job. a guy I 'met' through training classes that I lead is taking the role that I could've gone back to. hopefully, I'll get a referral bonus outta that.
turkey day will be odd. wife's flying to Cali with her mom. they will be gone for a week. me and the kiddos will go to my aunt's place. we'll be fine, but it will be different with my lady gone.
after working this week, I'm taking next week off. need to refocus on some chillin and studying. signed up for another cert. taking that test on 12/30.

absolutely. my MIL lived in Cali for the last couple of years, but moved back here. this shit really is turrible lol. after this cert, I'm taking a break from the cert game. plus I don't want to look like I'm a cert chaser. I don't want to be a paper tiger.

its like being a doctor on call.. but for computer networks
a lot of techs seem to leave simply because the amount of time they are deploying and installing shit.
Which is why it feels like most techs dont have kids or used to be military.

all hands on deck to find out what's happening, did someone get in and if data/creds were stolen. it's a non-stop thing fr.
burnout is not a game, but my team consists of folks that really like this stuff. they're seasoned and enjoy being in the weeds. I don't view it in the same way they do.

I've not seen that unless they're younger. pretty much everyone over here has kids. One guy, that I kinda forced to be my mentor, just had a baby this week.

I have and will log on here and there to follow-up on some stuff that SHOULD be cooking without me. But I'll take it..no trips to the office and I can spend a bunch of time doing something other than working. I like it!
