I KNOW you're suppsoed to use just a little, but the cap is a certain size and I just fill the cap up most of the way.

Or if the cap has lines or numbers I pretty much use the middle one - even though I should really go to the first line only.

"They" say you only need to use like 2tbsp of liquid, but I just can't believe it - no matter how much scientific evidence "they" present.

When I'm taking the clothes out of the dryer all of a sudden I'm like "did I forget to put in detergent??" When I think back I can't remember one way or the other lol There's no signs that I didn't use detergent but since I can't remember doing it on that specific load I keep wondering.

Few things are more depressing to me. I hate looking. I hate applying. I hate pretending. I hate having to revisit my past.

And I hate having to professionally provided cover for bullshit. Why did you leave x job. I cant say because the dude I worked for threw a stack of papers in my face and I changed jobs rather than strangle him.
Cant say I left the postal service because my manager called me on my personal line about a goofy excel spreadsheet. While my wife was fighting for her life and my kids
Cant say that the CEO of my company is a nazi loving eugenicist and not all money is good money.

I dont even need to like a job. I just need a job not to be a legitimate threat to my life. That shouldn’t be so hard to find.

And yet here we are.

I could make more elsewhere, but recently I went through a little personal crisis, had to take some days off from the JOB. Letting them know what was up. I got back, and got no static. In fact on my 1st day the CEO drops by my office.

"We're glad you're back, you we're missed, you're important here."
"If there's anything I can do, personal or not, let me know and I will, and be glad to do it."

Shit.

MY CFO is a woman, COO is a woman, CFO is a Black-man. I'm feeling very seen and safe, and I honestly never have in a career. That might be work that extra 10% of pay.

I've never made a career decision that didn't come down to money. It's kinda of nice, and kinda weird.

Shit.

and my boss will randomly text me about the NBA at 9PM every now and then, especially if he is on a biz trip and had a few.

They have been real accommodating during the pandemic anytime I have a family issue.

Every time I think.. “man, fuck this shit” I circle back a few days later like “I like this place”

Mental health wise.. prolly the best gig I ever had.

and I’m disappointed.

I shouldn’t be surprised and I’m not sure if my frustration is warranted

Just feels like every time I see someone Black winning in entertainment their mate is usually..

I wish it didn’t frustrate me as much as it does..

but its moreso because my theory is most Black folk cant make these strides with a Black
mate on their arm. Just a theory. Not supported by facts but supported by emotion? lol

We were specifically going there to recruit Black students and all of us were Black employees
And the amount of "have a good resume, have a decent email address, look presentable" shit that came from my counterparts offended me.
There's something about being Black and successful that you can find yourself with blinders on the systems that you had to overcome and the luck you had to have
So many times I meet Black successful people and they communicate an air of "anyone can do what I did if they just act right" and that's such a terrible message.

It's my own hang up 100%, admittedly, but I get that energy from these types of folks. And that's not fair to them. None of us owe anything to anyone except ourselves. But fuck if I don't feel lonely as hell talking to Black people without Black spouses. And when people are in a position of influence and they have a myopic view of what it took to get there, I worry about how isolating that energy can be to others.

she is kinda popular and vert OKPish.. she was recording in Philly and knew a lot of the Roots crew.

Man, she was going on and on about white folk and how they do and how we need to stick together to conquer white supremacy..

and then her husband showed up..

white as hell..

I just…

but like you said, that is my hang up

I just find it odd as hell. I couldn’t imagine going in on Asians or Indian’s and then rolling over to kiss my Indian wife.. but ionno, maybe I would? Cause I met a BAD indian my freshman year but I generally have negative experiences with Indians as a whole.

am I trippin? I guess its common to be attracted to the very same group you loathe as a whole?

A lot of Black people do that ... "they support their own"

But I mean yes, but also no.

When so much of your religion is on specific insular things it helps create its own ecosystem.
Nobody else can have that level of replication
Specific foods, food prep, clothing, fibers to manufacture the clothing, etc.

People love to look at the end results of things they admire but very few people bucket in the work it takes to get there or what it takes to overcome.

Some of these folks really end up in the room thinking they're exceptional because they think the room is exceptional and SOOOOOOO many of these rooms I get into are mediocre and insular.

I kept saying “I bet her husband is mad AF” but I wasn’t thinking he looked like that when I said it.

its just.. when I see Black people in positions of “power” my first thought is usually who gets to share that power with them..

but this goes back to Obama. We were side eyeing the fuck outta Obama but once we saw Michelle it was like “okay.. here is my money and my vote!!”

of course. Now take a look at the women of color that are big in politics, either has a Brad or no mate at all.

None of this is by accident.

In retrospect it make sense because she doesn't project "available" or "thirsty for a man" in any of her work. Her comedy from the last 6 or 7 years mostly avoids dating stuff.

In response to Reply # 0

I want to try something else where I feel like my work is appreciated. I'm not the type of person to look at my job as my defining characteristic, so moving to another job after 10 years doesn't feel like a setback to me.

But I am completely scarred over to police as humans
Every single police tragedy has me looking at myself like a real dirtbag ... like "damn you REALLY don't care about these folks do you?"
I feel solace in the fact that I don't find joy in their tragedy, just ambivalence.

How they gonna have Rev Run host it and not Kurtis Blow?

Kurtis was in the background for a few shots only.

Note: If Kurtis was not in shape because of the heart transplant I take this all back and bless Run for helping out.

In response to Reply # 0

and they won't respond to my text messages with basic shit like, the proper spelling of the kids names and whether or not they would like this or that. It is frustrating! These are the same people who feel like nobody ever does for them or their kids.

My mom said that some parents feel resentment when someone else can do for their kids what they can't do.

Last year, I bought my cousin's son this book https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Stuntboy-in-the-Meantime/Jason-Reynolds/9781534418165 (among other gifts) and when he opened it Christmas morning he frowned, said "I don't read books" and tossed it on the floor. I have it on video!

I am not making any purchases this year if they don't respond to my questions. That is money I could spend on things I want!

lmao at throwing it on the ground in front of you

and like someone else said, parents who struggle financially have a hard time with this type
of stuff.

I wouldn’t punish the lids because of the parents. Same time tho.. asking how to spell their name can also cone across funny. Especially if its a unique name they misspelled intentionally.

decided not to get that little boy anything. I bought his sister one of these www.wonderbly.com and that is supposed to arrive today so it won't seem like a Christmas gift. Since the little boy made it clear to that he doesn't read, and his mama has stopped responding to my texts asking whether he would like this thing or that thing, I am not going to waste my money. I actually bought me some shoes (on sale for Cyber Monday) with the money I would have spent on him.

My cousin (their mother) goes back and forth between wanting us to be close again like we were as kids to resenting me, to straight up disrespecting me. And overall, I have a habit of trying to buy peoples love/respect/friendship. That is something I am going to work on in 2023.

Now as for the other cousin on my other side of the family, she didn't respond with the spelling of her kids (4) names until after the deals had ended. So I am going to buy them a Harry and David fruit basket and leave that alone too! This cousin also has some resentment, but it is not just towards me. She feels like her and her kids are the outcasts of the family.

Neither of these cousins have jobs by the way. That is why I was trying to help. I don't have kids, so when I see stuff that I would by for my kids if I had them, I try to get it for someone else. I used to buy for my (white) best friends kid's, but they don't need anything. My cousins kids do! I had lost contact with both of these cousins for a while and now that we are back in contact I want to help out. However, this the second year in a row that my intentions are not well received. Instead of going back to buying for my friends kids, I am going to buy loads of shit for myself while it is on sale.
