thats a big ass nay wtf antitrust laws are not written in a way to properly keep corps in check as is exploitation of workers is increased because low wages and local tax recruitment benefits and workplace safety are neglected because of the monopoly established by the corp in the area

anyway, i had to visit our plant once in ALCOA, TENNESSEE and let me tell you it was a mindfuck
walking around that town and seeing "Alcoa Police" on police cars and "Alooa Fire Dept" etc etc was so weird and dystopian
this company town was over 100 years old. most people in the town (at that time) worked at the plant...

I could definitely see some judgy "Hmm, didn't see you at church this weekend." The company itself is not wholly like that but in a condensed setting like what you're describing, I could see it happening.
