Should they exist
If your company started one would you stay?

thats a big ass nay wtf
antitrust laws are not written in a way to properly keep corps in check as is
exploitation of workers is increased because low wages and local tax recruitment
benefits and workplace safety are neglected because of the monopoly established by the corp in the area

thats a hellllllll noooooooo

Purchases can be tracked. Time spend with who and where can be figured out by purchase records.

they used to own the Reynolds Wrap brand but sold it

anyway, i had to visit our plant once in ALCOA, TENNESSEE and let me tell you it was a mindfuck

walking around that town and seeing "Alcoa Police" on police cars and "Alooa Fire Dept" etc etc was so weird and dystopian

this company town was over 100 years old. most people in the town (at that time) worked at the plant...

ugh.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

Im glad we’re of the same mind because my intern basically just pitched a company town and I had to gently teach him the history of them in this country

I could definitely see some judgy "Hmm, didn't see you at church this weekend." The company itself is not wholly like that but in a condensed setting like what you're describing, I could see it happening.

Company towns include bars so this makes the premise terrible.

I would 100% love in Apple town. Wireless charging and fiber internet everywhere. Only problems are housing costs and forced obsolescence of technology.
