Ever go looking for something that you used to own and likely tossed thinking you'd never need/want it again only to turn around and discover that damn maybe you shoulda held on to that joint in the first place?
I turned my nose up at GPX, Jenson, etc. back in the day...now they are the only brands I recognize while trying to find a new portable CD player. Maybe they were better than I realized?

i remember when their product came on the market back when i worked at Tower Records we were all like "what the fuck is a Coby."
i promise you people would buy them, but i swear to god we'd get about 50% of them returned because they either sucked in some way or just broke not too long after they were bought. i can remember our return bin (to go back to the distributor) being full of Coby stuff.
i think they are kind of like Hyundai now, but don't quote me. i think they got decent with their product cuz they had to.
like i said, for them to be around still, i had to assume, that like Hyundai in the car biz, they had to step up their game in a major way otherwise they woulda been out of business years and years ago.
i don't really need any audio stuff these days, but if i did, i wouldn't look past them now. but back in the early 2000s? i wouldn't look AT them, lol.

I haven't had a computer (macbook) with a CD ROM ever...and the last PC I had with a CD ROM was around 2009. I do have a BluRay/DVD Burner somewhere though....I ripped a few CDs with it a few years back.... Sometimes you just want to put a disc on, play it start to finish and not deal with all the streaming mess....

Problem solved. I did this along with getting a USB hub.
I have all of my music, one 1 to 1 backup, and another 'its close but it doesn't always have everything' backup just in-case. If I had the time, I'd probably go back and rip all of my CDs again at a higher bitrate or whatever, but to hell with it. If these streaming people ever decide that I can't listen to ATLiens, they won't get me!

When I built my rig I installed a BluRay burner and multi SD card reader. Both seem so quaint now. I had/still have a project where I'm ripping all my CDs to my home server. But I've got to revise the whole server bit, so the burner still has some use.

I was streaming Gang Starr’s last joint for a while and thought it was aight and mostly liked it for nostalgia. Then when the CD came out I copped it and when I put that shit in the car, that shit was banging! It sounded so much better that I cancelled my Spotify subscription.
I was actually disgusted with people accepting that poor ass streaming quality. Most people don’t even notice the difference which is amazing to me. Sad thing is, there’s a whole generation who think that’s good quality because it’s all they know.

I liked it a lot, it had an anti-skip memory buffer on it that worked well, it had bass boost, plus it had AM/FM radio on it, only thing I hated about it was it ate up batteries real quick.
Back in the day when the car I owned back then had only a tape deck, I use to use the cd player with a cassette adapter to play cds in the car; and had a cigarette lighter charger for power to the cd player.
