"The Boebert Hypocrisy: The GQP Scandal Parade"

Here's hoping there's a lot more scandal to come, and it makes sense to consolidate those in one place.

We just saw this with Cawthorne, and my guess is this turns out to be true as well.

The best part of this one is, we get a special Ted Cruz bonus.

The hypocrisy here is the issue, not the abortion or the stint as an escort, but that still makes it problematic because if she loses support from her base, it would be for misogynist reasons.

It would essentially be a larger evil destroying a smaller evil, without damaging the larger evil at all.

On balance, I'm generally good with whatever it takes to tear down the GQP, but this one is a bit iffy. My hope is the simply eat each other as enough of the base realizes their being grifted left and right. But I digress:

https://www.newsweek.com/lauren-boebert-abortion-escort-claims-explained-muckrakers-1715956

American Muckrakers PAC claims Boebert worked as an unlicensed paid escort and met clients through a website called SugarDaddyMeet.com.

"According to our investigation, Boebert was hired by a wealthy male client in Aspen, Colorado, who was a Koch family member. Boebert's rich client subsequently introduced her to U.S. Senator Cruz to run for political office," a press release from the PAC read.
Newsweek subscription offers >

The group also accused Boebert of taking at least $136,250 from Senator Cruz for her campaign for Congress announced in 2019, and failing to disclose a $70,500 donation noted in Cruz's Federal Election Commission filings.

The PAC said Boebert has had two abortions, one of which was at Planned Parenthood—a claim that, if true, would contrast with Boebert's proclaimed strong opposition to abortion rights.

"Boebert had an abortion at a clinic in Grand Junction, Colorado, sometime in 2004 or 2005 when she was approximately eighteen years old. It is not known whether this abortion was related to SugarDaddyMeet.com clients or someone else," said the PAC.

"Then Boebert, twenty-three at the time, had an abortion in 2009 at the Planned Parenthood Clinic in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, 'due to her work with a SugarDaddyMeet.com client.'"

In 2021 Boebert pushed a bill to block funding to Planned Parenthood, as well as other health centers providing abortions. In the same year, she notoriously told Planned Parenthood "to go fund yourself." On her website, Boebert prides herself in supporting "overturning Roe v. Wade and restoring the sanctity of life to the law."

Other claims accuse Boebert of crashing an off-road 4x4 vehicle she was driving while drunk in Grand County, Utah, endangering the lives of her son and sister-in-law Tori Hooper who were on board, and failing to report the incident as required by Utah law. The group said it called Tori Hooper, who told them Boebert "begged" her to say nothing of the incident two weeks before the 2020 primary elections.

According to Utah Code for motor vehicles, drivers involved in accidents that cause injuries, death or damage to the vehicle of $2,500 or more are requested to report the accident within 10 days.

American Muckrakers PAC said Boebert's sister-in-law was brought to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction by helicopter after the accident, as per audio evidence it obtained.

Other claims are that Boebert paid for restaurant rent and her taxes with donor money, and has threatened her employees if they protested about not being paid the money she allegedly owes them.

The New York Times reported on June 8 that Colorado officials are currently examining allegations that Boebert inflated the mileage she logged on the campaign trail in 2020 and used more than $20,000 in reimbursements from donors to pay off years of tax liens on her restaurant.

The group said it obtained this information after an "exhaustive investigation" and a tip from an anonymous verified source close to the matter.

David B. Wheeler, president of the group and one of its co-founders, called Boebert "as big a hypocrite as Madison Cawthorn."

"He says one thing and does another. She says she is against abortion but has apparently had at least two abortions. She claims to be a devout Christian but is paid to escort wealthy men without a license and has two abortions she wants to make illegal for other women."

Earlier, Boebert appeared to reply to the allegations in a tweet that says: "Fact Check: Not true. Fake News. Four Pinocchios. Also...Y'all need Jesus!"

Cawthorne was fine, until he started talking about GOP members have drug filled orgies and then all this dirt starts trickling out.

Boebert fills the same. It feels like the GOP did an analysis and figured out she was a liability, and then this stuff starts coming out.

Meanwhile Matt Goetz was paying underage girls and hasn't seemed to have suffered for it.

and it was getting in the way of all this groomer stuff they're on about.

i'm pretty sure the average GOP male thinks Matt Goetz is out here living the dream.

these people don't seem to gaf about hypocrisy or how it looks. my guess this stuff will float away as just another msm hit job. They'll find one piece of this story that turns out to be proven false as proof.
all that said, my predictions are usually wrong, but we'll see if this is all but forgotten about in a week or two

I have never seen so much damning shit come out about a politician from his own party. Also, never in 2022 would you ever think to see somebody in politics engaged in a gay incestual relationship have so much video evidence of said relationship, but here we are.

I'm curious to see how this plays out for Boebert, she is deep in the worst politics and seemingly the type of people who support said politics will always find an excuse for them. If they can definitively prove the abortion claim they might have a chance of taking her down, but I honestly think most magas would be ok with the escort claim.

very dumb.

Gaetz is a fucking *lawyer* who paid for underage pussy over Venmo. Cruz left Texas during a winter storm and both lied about why he left and threw his family under the bus. All of them will have rhetoric about "liberal elites" yet they all attended Ivy league coastal schools and have the same backgrounds as the people they are trying malign.

Sometimes you really wonder what the fuck is wrong with the people who support these dickheads and then you realize the core of it is a seemingly eternal, bone deep, ignorant racism aka

as I've never heard of it before. Sad how profound and true the sentiment remains decades after.

It's been true for many moons now that poor whites will vote against their economic interests to side with the Republican party mainly because of less substantive social issues (guns, abortion, 'religious' stances). The racial angle that quote mentions adds another motive to the grift as well.

According to this, one of her clients introduced her to Cruz, and he was the one who suggested she go into politics.

His PAC also made sizable donations for her campaign.

I'm not even mad at him for it. But the more cracks that show in their facade of morality, the better.

they look for any reason to not vote.

if a dem candidate isnt morally pure or said something that wasnt perfectly socially liberal by 2022 standards (even if it was 30 years ago)...a lot of dem voters are ready to bail.

arguably the most defining quote of the modern democratic party was michelle obamas 'when they go low...we go high'. which is cool if youre ok with moral victories or tryna get a sportsmanship award. but politics is a blood sport and republicans (the politicians and the base) are obviously on some just win at all costs shit.

specific examples...in the 2018 midterms...republicans voted for an ag in tx under fed indictment (ken paxton), a dead pimp for statehouse seat in nv (dennis hof), a congressman in mt that body slammed a reporter (greg gianforte), a california congressman indicted for illegal campaign spending on multiple mistresses and blamed it on his campaign manager wife (duncan hunter), an ny congressman indicted for insider trading who was caught on video literally making illegal trades from the white house lawn (chris collins), etc.

meanwhile...in virginia...olivia wildes mom (leslie cockburn) was facing a republican opponent (denver riggleman) who was part of some weird bigfoot fan club...and she posted some joke meme insinuating the dude had a bigfoot sexual fetish. you had volunteers from *her* campaign quit because she was 'kink shaming' and 'playing dirty' and she eventually ended up losing a closely contested race.

just 2 teams with much different locker room cultures. one has an all in mentality and doesnt give a fuck about the rules. and one handcuffs themselves with rules that dont even exist.

one party is firmly placed in the mainstream.

one party is built almost entirely on enacting (but hiding) policies that are unpopular with the large majority of americans.

one party is built almost entirely on enacting policies that are popular with the large majority of americans.

one party has moved so extreme that their last president ran *against* their party and their previous 2 presidential nominees (just 2 cycles before that) are/were now largely considered pariahs within their party base for not being sufficiently extreme.

and one party just elected someone who has been a central figure to their national party for the last 50 years.

the 'fringe' of one party promotes gun violence as a means to achieve political goals and is banning books that teach anything but their radical ideology (and theyre also actually the base of the party).

the 'fringe' of one party wants to give every american healthcare and a secondary education like virtually all 1st world industrialized western nation.

one party doesnt believe in democracy.

one party does.

in no legitimate version of reality can anyone say *both* parties are moving to the extreme.

i mean, maybe you can, but Dems generally care too much what everyone thinks, including republicans.

someone like Boebert is only out to impress the 'merica crowd, and even though there's a certain trying-too-hard aspect in posing with guns in every picture, i guess enough people respect that she's not trying to please *everyone*.

What's even the lefty counter to that? and how does that work in a mostly red district?

Dems *never* have enough power to enact their "goals", no matter how much power they actually have.

Meanwhile, Republicans *always* have enough power to get their goals met, no matter how much power they lack.

But Dems got campaign donation letters on the ready for whenever the repubs get their way. IMMEDIATELY.

Less facetiously, I'm not surprised even if I am, like, disappointed or whatever. Boebert seems like an easy target to begin with and in the wake of Madison Cawthorne filming his own cousin get him off, I had a nagging feeling that at least some of this was trying to ride that wave, especially when it didn't gain the same traction for days and weeks the way his hilarious whoops-a-daisies did.

I foolishly gave them some credence before this had a chance to be vetted, because of the near masterful way this tact took out Madison Cawthorne.

Lesson learned.

But all this does is bolster their ranks, and further fuel their “fake news” fire any time something comes out to their detriment.

I think the notion of chipping away at the personal credibility of these people could work to poach off a few straggling MAGAts. But in the grand scheme, that’s only a small part of the overall effort. Were this true, then it helps sew even a fee small seeds of doubts in the minds of at least some MAGA faithful.

But since it’s been debunked, I think the opposite effect is now true. If their next story is true and truly damning, it’s likely to fall in deaf ears now.

So I think we should care.

I vaguely remember people trying to make "The Coffee Party" a thing as a way to match the energy of the tea party. Maybe i'm misremembering and it was just a facebook group or something, but either way it was pretty cringe.

Same way Air America tried to be the left's answer to conservative talk radio. Even if you actually tried to make reality of msnbc being the lefty answer to Fox, there's no way to outdo these people at something that's *their* thing.

not that the democratic party is any kind of shining example of integrity, but i really can't think of one time trying to mimic the right has worked out for them. they need to get good at their own thing because they kind of suck at everything right now.

Even if nobody engaged with this rumor at all, Roe vs Wade still would have been overturned.

Because that’s what they were all hired to do.

In fact, we already knew this was coming in more certain terms, because of the leak.

And even if we didn’t, there’s nothing any of us could have done.

This was no more a “distraction” than any given NBA trade rumor or reality show clip.

Everything that isn’t the main thing is always called a “distraction”

Go to any major event in the news cycle
Whatever that big story is
Someone will always chime with this exact rhetoric

“While y’all were distracted by_____, THIS much bigger thing happened”

It’s a nothing statement. Nobody is glued to one specific thing at all hours of every day.
And even if they were, the vast majority of those of us who are “distracted” are not in a position stop the Big Thing that happened when we’re distracted.

And again

None of that has any real bearing on what happened with RvW

>Last time I checked...no NBA player simultaneously holds
>office

The point is, these distractions aren’t any different.

And to your question, you’re asking me to solve the huge problems democrats have had for decades.

You should be asking that question to the people in power who could actually fix that problem.

That's social media. Twitter and Facebook probably got some ad revenue from it so mission accomplished.

I saw a few "left wing" twitter and blogs "run with it" - but never a story on CNN, MSNBC, NYT, WP, etc.

It was a PAC release amped up by social media. Ans swallowed by The Young Turks and gullible jerks.

This is the weak point, because that was never the point of the story though.

The point of the leak, or caring about it at all, was that it could be another crack in the MAGA foundation. Nobody on the left who entertained this cared about that in the slightest.

It’s precisely because her views and position are so problematic that anyone entertained this, because the point is that it could have potentially taken her out.

The story could have been about anything, and that point would have remained the same.

Republicans would use those lies to galvanize their base and raise funds for the next election. I don't know if they're lying so those statements are true.
