I was a reading a news article about a black female celebrity being sued for engaging in an extramarital romance with a married man, because the illicit romance led to the female spouse being deprived of love and affection.
I had no idea that this was a civil law. It’s considered to be an archaic law, but there are some states that still uphold it.

My comedic brain makes me wonder if this statue came into play after the Hornets first came to NC/Charlotte and wives stopped being content with being accountants’ wives and started having too much fun.

Cox’s counter is interesting. adultery. It was something that was rarely pursued, but now individuals are going that route. And if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense.
Marriage is a LEGAL union, and if a third person has caused that union to become damaged or compromised, then that third person can be held liable for the dissolution of that bond.
