>Also I'm good for bring ice. People never have enough ice

Whenever people come over, especially if it is summer and for a BBQ/cookout and people ask what they can bring, I generally say ice because you never have enough to keep the beer cold or for mixed drinks.

If everyone just brought beer or alcohol I would just have a bunch of warm beers and no ice for mixed drinks.

with a bunch of women at an all-women event.

Newsflash: we honor this too. In fact, there was a woman scolding her younger daughter about not going to someone's house for the first time empty handed

this is really more a generational thing...

And if anything in my family it’s usually the women driving that since they are the ones organizing most of the family/friend events. We also have a thing that when you go to someone’s house the host sends you back with food to take home, with their Tupperware, and when you give their Tupperware back you send back some food from your house inside the container.

But yeah, ALWAYS bring something. A bottle of wine/whiskey, a desert, SOMETHING.

quick to ask “what should I bring?” and usually volunteer to help clean up afterwards that’s partly why I generally invite more women than men to my cookouts lol

God Bless those Queens.

And why I don’t have shit at my house. Niggas are in a bad habit of coming empty handed, evaporate anything you have to offer that’s not plain water, and then get pissy of you ask to contribute something.

I've found that bringing a shaker and mixers is clutch (bitters, simple, agave, lemon/lime juice, etc.)

But anyways, yes, absolutely

If I bring beer and no one drinks it, well my boy just came up on some beers. If I bring a bottle and half of it is left it stays in my fiends liquor shelf.

The only exception to this rule is if it is a lot of leftover food that you brought. You offer the host to keep as much as they want and take the remainder home.

I definitely don't have that expectation of guests - I'm usually specifically putting them on to cocktails or bottles that they aren't up on, and it's part of having them over.

I do agree with the post from up above about bringing Ice though - WAY more helpful than a bottle of Barefoot Moscato lol...
