I really liked the Dreamville tape. Cole has a great roster and there were some gems in there.

Other albums i really liked were Alex Isley & Jack Dine - Marigold, Sunni Colon - JuJu & The Flowerbug, Pete Rock - Petestrumentals 4 and the Jembaa Groove album from earlier this week.

Some singles as well: Freddie Gibbs & Rick Ross - Ice Cream, A$AP Ant & A$AP Rocky - The God hour, Jordy - Feel right now, Vince Staples - Rose Street, Jasmine Casselle & Ivy Sole - Things Change remix...

bit of a slow week, but still listening to a lot of new music from last friday.

Singles:
Dope
Nyck Caution, Boldy James & Charlie Heat - Vengeance
J-Tek & Blu - Gameboy

Okay
Freddie Gibbs - Ice Cream
G Perico & Dave East - Half a Bird
Homeboy Sandman - A!

Not feeling
Marlon Craft & Havoc - Hans Zimmer
Vince Staples - Rose Street

Projects:
Dope
Sunni Colon - JuJu & The Flowerbug
Big Cheeko - Block Barry White
Alex Isley & Jack Dine - Marigold

Okay
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Unlimited Love

Not feeling
Murs - Murs In Miami
MichaelAngelo & Eto - Table For One (EP)

The Sunni album is definitely my favorite of these after one listen. Big Cheeko and Alex Isley are pretty good but not sure if they will hold up on repeat listens. The Big Cheeko has some good production and the rapping is decent.

The Chili Peppers is way too long, there were many times where I wanted to stop listening. I really liked the last 4 songs, Not The One and Watchu Thinkin. I don't think I will like it more on repeat listens but we will see.

Me and a few friends are big Dipset stans, and it's crazy to us that Jim Jones, in his "old age" (for rappers), became the best rapper in Dipset (these day that is - Cam WOULD be because Cam can rap circles around a lot of folks but he's lazy AF).

I mean, El Capo was arguably the best rap album of 2019.

The fact that he can RAP and sing has his album giving me Outkast vibes - Outkast vibes if Speakerboxx/Love Below Outkast got combined into one rapper and was from Compton.

meaning their music doesnt hold up on repeat listens. it kind of sounds like an attempt to remake the outkast sound but it seems a bit off. that might be how old fans of soul felt about neo soul though. i have liked their newer stuff more than the older stuff but i still get tired of it.

new.

Deante' Hitchcock single-handedly makes more interesting modern Southern thoughtful rap than these guys collectively.

Revisited it a while back and thought and downgraded it to good not great.

Wasn't into GHETTO GODS sans a few tracks.

That said, that Spillage Village from a few years back is fire.

In response to Reply # 21

Always liked Vince, but he finally got a WHOLE album of GOOD production.

At first I saw it and saw there was 16 songs, but then saw the whole run time was 41 mins. Good length and I think the sequencing was well done as well.

In response to Reply # 21

It started to wear on me after about 10 tracks, but I think those first 10 are close to the best tracks anyways.

I like Fivio as a rapper/artist. Would DEFINITELY love to hear him on some production that isn't centered around the drill sound, because even if the beats are mixed well, have great samples, drums, etc. they do start to blend which is why I think the 2nd half of the ablum kinda fell off for me.

In response to Reply # 21

is what I'm checking for this week.

Started listening to Vince last night... seems like this is the album where he finally explicitly addresses what happened in his past that made him have to leave LA and go to Atl... Or at least that's what I think I heard.

Some good stuff on Omar's record too. But after one listen I couldn't say I loved it.

Starting on HK right now. It's really dope.

28. "Thoughts Pt1"
In response to Reply # 21

Not finished going through everything but I want to post this while it's still fresh on my mind.

I basically liked all the singles I checked out. The Chloe one not as much but it wasn't bad.
Pusha T - Neck & Wrist
Chance the Rapper - Writing Exercise #2
ScHoolboy Q - Soccer Dad
Action Bronson - Subzero
IDK - Taco
Deca & Blu - Shelter
Chlöe - Treat Me

Chance is really coming back strong huh?

Albums:
Jack White - Fear of the Dawn
I really liked this, I came into it expecting to hear some interesting concepts but not much replay value. Starting with the Q-tip track I enjoyed pretty much all of it.

Syd - Broken Hearts Club
This started off dope but then went into mid mode. I liked the first 3 tracks and Getting Late (which is pretty old).

Paul Wall & Termanology - Start 2 Finish
This also started off dope but then the beats outshone the vocals after the first 3 tracks.

Billy Woods & Preservation - Aethiopes
Not into this one. I need something more engaging besides lyrics.

Girl Talk, Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T. & Smoke DZA - Full Court Press
This was a bit hit and miss but I liked it more than I thought I would.

Vince Staples - RAMONA PARK BROKE MY HEART
I'm split on this. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would but there is something about his vocals that just don't do it for me. The production is good and there is nothing bad about it but its just not hitting for me.

Fivio Foreign - B.I.B.L.E.
I don't get the hype about dude. He's not bad but there's nothing that jumps about his music to me. I liked Through the Fire.

Will get to these next week:
Omar Apollo - Ivory
Hiatus Kaiyote - Mood Variant Remixes

The Omar Apollo is interesting. I didn't know what to expect but checked it out for the features. I always appreciate hearing different styles in one album. I will come back to it but I don't know how much I like it.

Hiatus Kaiyote was a good listen but I'm not huge on remixes so I don't expect I will come back to it much.

I thought the first 4 tracks were absolutely fantastic (CYBAH, Tie The Knot, Fast Car and Right Track). Then it kinda levels off. It's not terrible just mid, exactly like you said. I did also like BMHWDY near the end of the album a lot. I think these 5 tracks will get a lot of replay from me. I may try to let some of the other tracks ride but we'll see.

Not a great week.

Singles I really liked
Tre Capital, Xzibit and Nottz - Bridge
Marcus D & Blu - Rainin Outside
C-Lance - The Book Of Life

Singles that were okay
G Perico & Curren$y - Bacc 2 The Blocc
Kota The Friend - Good Friday
Ransom - Circumstances
Fendi P & Curren$y - Tank Dawg

Singles I didn't like
serpentwithfeet - Sailors' Superstition (Bmore Club Remix)
serpentwithfeet - Sailors' Superstition
BIJOU - The Players Anthem
BIJOU - The Players Anthem (VIP)

Bas - Pick Me Up (EP)
Only 4 songs but this was pretty good. I will come back to it.

Asher Roth & Heather Grey - Why's It So Grey Out?
Good production and the rapping was okay.

HYPE - Talk To Me Nice
Good production, rapping was okay but kind of boring on some songs.

Dizzy Wright & DJ Hoppa - Dizzyland
Spotty, decent production and rapping but it overall sounded dated.

Sault - Air
Not for me, I don't think I'll come back to it I can understand some people liking it.

IMYOUNGWORLD - BLEU
Blah, so when I tried to listen to this it only played the first 30 seconds of each song even though they were listed at over 2 minutes each. I talked with Youtube Music support. Now they're gonna think I'm a super fan lol. I did find "official audio" videos that played all the way through. I did not like it, at all.

Only songs I added to my 2022 favorites playlist were the first 3 singles listed and Amire Her by Bas.

Only tracks I'm a bit eh on are Let The Smokers Shine The Coupes, Scrape It Off (hook) and Hear Me Clearly.

We will see how it holds up on repeat listens but I expect it to stay pretty high.

I wasn't able to find some of the albums I planned to check out but here is what I did check out.

Singles I liked:
Phro. - Feeling Like Jah
Demrick, K.A.A.N. & DJ Hoppa - The Recipe
Elcamino - Angels

Singles worth checking out:
Kelis - FEED THEM
Ab-Soul - Hollandaise
Logic - Tetris
Logic - Decades
Megan Thee Stallion - Plan B
PJ Morton - Be Like Water
Cam'ron - Don't Blow My High
Ronaldo Capetti - Born Rich
Sanura & Raheem DeVaughn - Chocolate Love
Sick Jacken - White Sands

Singles I didn't like:
Rico Nasty - Vaderz
Sean Paul - No Fear
070 Shake - Skin & Bones
Redman - Jane

Albums:
Pusha T - It's Almost Dry
I put this up with the best albums of the year. Only songs I'm not putting into rotation are Let The Smokers Shine The Coupes, Scrape It Off and Hear Me Clearly but they might grown on me. I definitely want to give this album more listens. I don't think it is clearly better than any album released this year but it is great and I think it will stay high on my list.

MC Melodee & Cookin Soul - Bonafide
This was interesting, never heard of MC Melodee. The production is great. The rapping is a bit dated and simple. It works really well on some songs and it doesn't take away from others to keep me from enjoying the album. Songs making it into rotation Sun Goddess, Aces in my Zone and Paid my Dues. I think overall it is good but not great.

Budamunk & Jansport J - BudaSport
This has good production but I can't really judge the rapping since I didn't understand most of it lol. I'm curious to see if I get more into it on repeat listens. The instrumental tracks on this are really good. I say it is worth checking out even though no tracks are going into rotation.

Krayzie Bone - Krayzie Melodies: Melodious Vol. 1
This was okay, I haven't really listened to any new music from Bone in years. I don't think I really like this style but there were some tracks that worked pretty well. I have a feeling that I will skip most of the album on repeat listens. Not adding any tracks into rotation.

Nick Speed & Ro Spit - Coney Island
I couldn't really get into this. The production and rapping is okay but it wasn't doing it for me. I am adding Welcome To Coney Island into rotation.

Fendi P - Corner Boy vs. Fendi
I kept alternating between wanting to skip it and thinking the beats were good enough to keep it on. I will probably tire of it on repeat listens. Not adding any tracks into rotation.

I liked so much this week. I didn't expect that.

Singles I liked:
Sampa The Great - Lane
The Black Keys - It Ain't Over
Kent Jamz - Rollin’ Wit The Homies
Your Old Droog - Mind Your Business
QueLLe ChriS - The Sky is Blue Because the Sun is Red

Worth checking out:
Mahalia - In The Club
IDK - Dog Food
Bobby Shmurda - They Don't Know
Jay 305 - Ghetto Praise

Didn't like:
Kevin Gates - Big Lyfe
Flee Lord & Mephux - Final Four
9th Wonder - Never Give Up (not big on instrumentals)
OT The Real & Statik Selektah - The Bottom
Styles P - SET AND CLICK
Styles P - 3AM ON GHOST PATH
Khalid - Skyline (surprised, I usually like most his stuff)

Dope Albums:
Action Bronson - Cocodrillo Turbo
Maybe I will come down on this but first listen was great. Only two songs I was down on were: Hound Dog and Turkish.

CZARFACE - Czarmageddon!
This was pretty great, I liked 4 songs slightly less than the rest. They really seem to be on point lately. The 4 songs I was down on were: Damien's Dinner Time, The Czarlaac Pit, Nu Mutantes and Czarv Wolfman.

PJ Morton - Watch The Sun
I really liked this. This is one for the people complaining about current R&B being too sexual and explicit. Only songs I was slightly down on were: Love's, Disease (Just Can't Get Enough), Biggest Mistake and Be Like Water.

Fatlip & Blu - Live From the End of the World, Vol. 1 (Demos)
I will probably come down on it with repeat listens but this was pretty good. Favorite songs: Street Life, Hollywood Celebrity, LFTEOTW, Crack Party and Look To The Sky.

Worth listening to:
Toro y Moi - MAHAL
This was pretty good. I still waver on really into being his stuff and just finding it cool. Favorite songs: Goes By So Fast, The Loop, Last Year, Déjà Vu, Millennium and Days in Love.

Kehlani - Blue Water Road
This one took a while to get going for me but it was pretty good overall. Favorite songs: get me started, more than i should , altar, melt and wondering/wandering.

Lute - Gold Mouf (Deluxe) (EP)
This was okay, I really enjoyed the full album so kind of let down that I didn't find any new songs on this to put into rotation.

Not really feeling:
Nyck Caution & Charlie Heat - Friend of the Family
This was a mixed bag, pretty much hated the first 3 songs. The rest was okay to pretty good. Favorite songs: Vengeance , Escape Route, Tell The Truth and Capsized.

Russ - If Not Now, When? (EP)
Some good beats and dude can rap but overall wasn't into it.

Ransom - No Rest for the Wicked
I think I'm just not into his style. Not keeping any songs in rotation.

Casey Veggies - Since Y'all Forgot (EP)
Started okay but nah.

Remind me to stop giving a try to:
Future - I NEVER LIKED YOU
True.

Over all I added 49 out of 151 tracks from this week into rotation. That's pretty high.
